Cant believe it's got this far without the mention of Radiohead, blown up to much bigger and important than they really are.

That's fine, not liking them is one thing, being gormless/deaf enough to suggest they are shit is something else, but you haven't said they are shit....yet

why though?

reading through some of the bands placed into this thread this lot are one of the worst - in fact lets have a timeline of Coldplay

Start - release "Yellow" , art students start wanking over it , actual song not to terrible on first play then repetitive as f*** and whiny from there on then
Then - band release two more albums of songs that are "Yellow" , art students die of orgasms (probably)
Now - band release new album , have one good song from it (Vive La Vida ) but gets played repetitively to f*** , then start with ANOTHER f**king version of "Yellow"

bland , overhyped , pretentious drivel of the highest order

Or to put it another way, you only like commercial music, because that is exactly what Yellow and Viva La Vida are??

I'll go along with INXS though. Absolute wank, even at the time - adored by the sort of boring twats who turned up to teenage parties in chinos and stiff collared shirts. :tosser:

What he said.
In mitigation, Morissey's status as one of the most gargantuanly-detestable COCKHEADS ever to walk on the face of this earth did also manage to put me right off the Smiths music for a very long time, whilst many of my contemporaries were raving about them, calling him God etc. Which was stupid of me, because their output is without any doubt some of the finest guitar music that's ever been recorded.

It's a misplaced status. Morrissey was skulking around the fringes of the burgeoning Manc music scene in the 80s and being belittled by everyone, partly because he looked, well, a bit ordinary. One day he just stuck his fingers up at some of the twats he's been trying to impress at the Hacienda and just said "f*** it, I'm going to be a star". He formed The Smiths, walked into the record company and they were blown away with what they heard.

Morrissey is a f***ing legend for striking a chord with all those people pissed off with not feeling they were able to simply be themselves.

Not happy having Muse on this list though. They are truly brilliant, especially their HAARP album. f***ing great.

That's them! Been trying to rack my brains for that total lump of shiteness. Music for playing in Citroen Saxos down Madeira Drive or from your mobile on the back of a bus. They are the worst mentioned so far by a mile.

As for James Blunt I hate his music but seeing him in interviews and especially the YouTube of him on Sesame St I quite like him as a person

I think people need distinguish between bands that were in actual fact shit and bands they just don't like (although that would make the thread less fun!)

I have a disliking of Red Hot Chilli Peppers but I can kind of understand why people might like them.

U2 - Don't get me started on them, I can never understand why they have so much success especially with that "oh look at me I'm going to save the World and I'm part of the biggest band ever" Bonno fella as the lead singer
