On the rock side of things Def Leppard have been making noises about wanting to play. It’s not at the level of the open “letter” from Lars Ulrich but they have made noises. Although they have sold as many records as many of the headliners they never really had the same level of support in the UK as they did in the US. Can’t see it myself.

Mrs GB and I had the "Elton; headliner or legend?" convo while watching this year's offerings.

I'd personally love him to rock up on Sunday afternoon in full on 70's glam rock regalia and bang out all the hits. As Crodo would say, the crowd would be lapping it up and having an absolute hoot.

I'm not sure he quite has that "Saturday, Pyramid Stage" vibe. She reckons he could headline the whole shebang.

Having seen Elton rocking a stadium (st Mary’s) a few years ago, I’d agree with Mrs GB.

How about Tom Jones?

I think they will make sure the headliners are diverse, I think each year that one will be a BAME artist and one female ( or both). I think Kate Bush would be a great shout, I think it will be Taylor Swift next year as she was due to headline this year. I think father John misty, John grant, nick cave, the National, WH lung would all be good, a return for future islands. I would like to see some old school reggae/soul/hip hop ( so many greats have left us unfortunately). Black Uhuru, max romeo, Jimmy cliff. Neil Young could be a headliner.
