I've still got most of the tickets nicely stashed in chronological order in a rather large album, starting in 1977 and currently ending with Motorhead, Girlschool & The Damned last night.

I've seen Gary Numan well in excess of 50 times.

OCD? Me?
and I thought I was the only one (although to be honest whilst I have a XL workbook of all gigs, the ticket stubs and press adverts scrapbook project has always remained on the drawing board in chronologicasl plastic files, not that I have a drawing board....)

I was a tour manager for years so cant really count work! but if it was paying i followed pixies and the wedding present on tours in the late eighties crashing on various mates halls of residence floors.

Once popped over to paris to see an amazing weller gig at la cigalle, but in this century would probably say Brakes or SFA.

Sadly the question has to be asked - who on earth COUNTS how many times they've seen a band?

I was thinking that too.

I don't know who I've seen the most: I saw Can six or seven times, and The Clash and Gang of Four a similar amount. But some events just blur into each other - I'm staggered that a) some people have seen acts 20 or 30 times and b) they know the exact number.

Hard to say. I've seen a few mates' bands that only 25 people have ever heard of around a dozen times each, out of loyalty.

Of bands that I've actually paid to see, then probably U2 (6 times in 80-81, then again in 85), or Thin Lizzy (about the same).

I've seen Nick Cave about a dozen times, but split evenly between the Birthday Party and the Bad Seeds (plus a book signing).

But the two bands/people I've probably seen the most are Delta 5, because there was a period from 79 to 81 ish when they supported just about every band that played in London... and Billy Bragg, because in the second half of the 80s he was on the bill of every single festival there was.

Definitely the Super Furries, though I'm unsure of how many times. I can remember 5 but it's more than that.

If you are inclined to see a particular band so many times, I suggest counting the number is part of the territory.

Aside from this I've seen a number of bands in different places, differentiation helps with counting. But, with age my memory isnt as good as it was. I wonder if there is an iPhone 'ManList' app?

Remember seeing this lot at uni. Singer keeled over half way through and had to be carried off. Other uni highlights were the Belle Stars totally smacked off their faces and the Jazz Butcher punching a student clean in the face. What made this latter more fun was that there were only 50 people spread thiny in the venue; mid-song he decided to walk around in the crowd strumming his guitar before deciding to thump someone. An unusual way to end a gig.

I've seen TMTCH on average once a year for the past 25 years so 25 times was a guesstimate. I agree with you though, if I had kept an actual record that would be worrying.

Not really a huge music fan - apart from the legendary Gary, Mark, Howard and Jason.

And that is who I've seen the most. A very special THREE times. Wembley Arena 95/96ish, Manchester MEN Arena 2007, Wembley Stadium 2009. Best three days of my life.

you utter, utter, loser.
