Ban the Band

Does anyone else agree thats it's about time the "England Supporters Band" were shown the red card?

I'm taking about that annoying drone of repetitive shite songs we're subjected to whether watching England on TV or live at the game.

They do nothing but actually kill what little atmousphere there is at an England international.

All I associate the band with is crap england performances over the past 15yrs or so. Time to try something new surely

I was thinking the opposite last night. I thought that if we got rid of the band, Wembley would sound like a library (Welsh fans aside).

Grumpy old git!!! At times they may be out of tune, too fast or too slow... But they often get the fans singing during quieter spells of the game, bringing a bit of atmosphere back!!

Im with [MENTION=4472]strings[/MENTION] . They got every song started and I cant remember any other people starting songs, it would be dead in there without them. Is it actually their job to do that or are they just supporters with some instruments does anyone know?

They're the official band. I don't think they get paid, but they do get free tickets iirc. I'm pretty sure they're essentially a Sheffield Wednesday band, although maybe there are others that join them on England duty?

I've spent too much time over the years pissing myself off, getting annoyed watching England play and all I can hear in the background is them on a loop of crap songs!

Not their fault England are crap.

Was at Wembley last night and to be honest the atmosphere was so shit....along with the mediocre (at best) football I left a game early for the first time in 28yrs of going to matches. Was my first England game and wholely disappointed. Total lack of atmosphere and it felt like being at Withdean again. The Club v Country question was well and truely answered for me.........give me the Albion every time! Did'nt think the band made any difference and at times it made it worse when they were playing stuff and nobody was joining in, which highlighted how poor it was. On contrast the Welsh fans were singing and trying to get the atmosphere going but not much going back at them....pretty embarassing really!
