Both ITV & BBC were showing England's matches.

I'd ban them for other reasons. Clive Tyldsley would be my top reason

I know it's sacriligeous but I never liked Brian Moore as a commentator either.

I always watch BBC in preference to ITV. Even election night coverage is better with David rather than Jonathan Dimbleby

On NSC for over two decades...
ITV coverage has always been shit, combine that with the fact that England always lose and you generally have a terrible viewing experience.

When a game is on both channels then it's Auntie Beeb all the way for me.

How come crappy ITV get both the prestige France game AND one other?

As they have to share coverage, surely the BBC have been screwed over, only getting one game against Croatia while ITV get the big game as well??

I thought this in the last Euros, that ITV in general and Keegan in particular were a curse. Didn't realise it went quite so far back as 1996 though, or that it was still going.

Sod off ITV, if they had a shred of decency or national pride, they'd offer the Swiss game to the BBC now :D

Because BBC gets first pick of quarter and semi-finals. i.e. if we make the knock-out stages, the game(s) will be on BBC.:clap2:

Bobby Robson's less than incisive analysis and ability to state the bleedin' obvious was mind-numbing. The main commentator's (Tyldsley?) "Arsenal are making a substitution" gaff about France was a classic though.

I'm told that the BBc took a "punt" that england would get to the knockout stages, and so wanted first choice for those games rather than the one group game that they both wanted (the French), they agreed pretty quickly to take two games out of four, presuming England got to the qauarter final satge. BBC had a bit more faith in our brave boys than ITV by deciding to tale the quarter final rather than the French game.
