Didn't he fail a medical or something?

Don't know the details but we don't need another sicknote. But I'd trust the medical teams expertise after the Mwepu incident.

As rumour threads go, this is as shocking as the deadline day of Bamba Dieng, whoever the feck he is.

If the football gods had a sense of humour he'd sign for Grimsby and be given the armband, then the fans would sing:

" Soy Marinero, Soy Marinero, Soy Capitan, Soy Capitan, Soy Capitan. Bamba Bamba! Bamba Bamba!"

So are we after Bamba Dieng or QPRs Seny Dieng? Or both? Probably neither.

What happened on transfer deadline day with this fella then? More to the point, is he any good?

This thread is pointless without more information.

Marseille forward. Very strong and quick. Doesn’t play same position as trossard. On twitter we are monitoring him (fairly reliable journalist). Guy next to me at work is Marseille fan (took him to Chelsea game too), said he would do well.

The curious case surrounding Bamba Dieng became one of the most intriguing stories of transfer deadline day. Dieng looked set to jet to Leeds to complete a transfer to the Premier League after agreeing personal terms with the Whites.

Meanwhile, Leeds United were in the process of allowing Daniel James to leave for Fulham on a season-long loan. In the first twist of a rollercoaster saga, OGC Nice hijacked United's bid, leaving Dieng's private jet unmoved on the runway in the South France.

He rushed to Nice to sign on the dotted line but failed his medical in a dramatic turn of events. The transfer wasn't necessarily dead as Nice had the chance to sign the Senegal international by activating the 'joker rule'

In the end, neither party could reach an agreement and Dieng had to return to Olympique de Marseille an unwanted man. L'Equipe claimed earlier this month that Belgian outfit Royal Antwerp had offered him an escape route but Dieng failed to respond to their approach.

Since then hes been isolated in Marseille.

Seems a risk from both a medical perspective and may also fail NDH policy.

He was out of the Marseille matchday squad until the end of September, and has since played an average of 19 minutes/game - 1 goal and 1 assist in 186 minutes in Ligue 1.

Perhaps we'll sign him as a Connolly replacement?
