Which I actually think was critical in the decision. Pedro was smashed into by Lewis Cook, who was the subject of Baleba's late challenge, even if there was virtually no contact. I reckon Atwell reckoned it was a deliberate retribution challenge from Baleba and acted accordingly.

Could be, I took a stab at it being Cook :p It was the same guy in both challenges anyway

Wasn't the same player. It was Lewis Cook (no 4) who was involved in the challenge with Joao Pedro. It was Kerkez (no 3) who was involved in the challenge with Baleba.

Dembele for PSG has just got a very similar 2nd yellow to Baleba. Commentators moaning vociferously about it being a poor decision to give the 2nd yellow - when he might not have touched him.

Football is soft

I assume that since it hasn't been overturned it means the club decided it cannot be appealed.

Despite the fact that some posters suggest it can.

And others suggest it cannot.

I'm still in the dark

I'm still in the dat,

Or it could be that a decision on the outcome of an appeal hasn't been made yet.

( But, yeah, unlikely)

The confusion for Hurzeler, who was adamant that it wasn't a second yellow and insisted it would be revoked in post match interviews , might be because you can appeal 2nd yellow cards in Germany. You can't in the Premier League - unless for mistaken identity.
Baleba will be suspended for one match and return for Fulham (A) . Expect Ayari , O Riley or Wieffer, Ayari on Friday. Hinshelwood still injured i think.

PS: My sauce for that was Brian Owen's excellent post match podcast / audio round up after Bournemouth.

OK, thanks. That was what I thought, but someone on NSC was adamant the card could be appealed. I will jog on now, whistling and looking balefully into the middle distance.
