Rockers Genesis plan reunion tour
Phil Collins
Collins left the band in 1996 to pursue solo projects
Rock veterans Genesis are to reform, 10 years after frontman Phil Collins left.

Collins, 55, with guitarist Mike Rutherford, 56, and keyboardist Tony Banks, 56, have agreed to take part in a major tour.

Genesis sold over 130 million albums during the '70s and '80s, despite losing singer Peter Gabriel in 1975.

A spokesman said specific details of the tour and "long term plans" including possible new material would be announced in the next few weeks.

The group was formed by Rutherford, Banks and Gabriel at Charterhouse public school in the 1960s.

Collins joined as drummer in 1970 and initially the band enjoyed cult success.

They only hit the commercial big time with hits like I Can't Dance, Mama and Invisible Touch after Gabriel left.

Collins had already voiced interest in a reunion before he announced his spilt from Orianne, his wife of six years, in March.

Assume he's kept up to date with technology and emailed his wife that he was leaving her rather than the fax he sent the last one?

Hey f*** you, Genesis are well cool
I don't dislike them, in fact, some of it's excellent. But "cool" is really pushing it...

When Gabriel was lead singer they were one of the coolest bands around though.

I saw Gensis (with Peter Gabriel), Lindisfarne and Rab Noakes in about 1973 at the Top Rank.

If Gabriel rejoined they might be worth seeing again.

Saw Genesis at the Dome in 71/72? with Lindisfarne. Van der graaf generator topped the bill - now that's a band in a league of it's own - Peter Hammill is still producing great music and the recent VDGG cd is excellent.
