Whilst listening to the match tonight I want to set my PC back to the original factory settings. I have the 6 CDs to do this but if I put No 1 in the disc drive it doesnt automatically run. If I go to the start menu what do I type into the run box.

I tried to do it on recovery but that showed an option to just reset everything but didnt remove all of the old programs that I want to remove. There was an option to reformat the hard drive but will this remove the Windows XP that was put on at the factory.

Help an old codger please!!

you need to run the CD with the Bios settings. Like the old a:/ drive boot disks. Could be F4 or something. Google your computer type and BIOS.

it's it's a laptop you can restore to factory settings easily without the discs.

No luck so far I have done this before using the CDs but for some reason the PC does not initialize the CDs and start the process.
I have so much s..t on it that it takes an age and I just want to take it back to the state that it was with just my OS when I bought it then add the few propgramms I need like Office, Nero and broadband etc.

Double left click on my computer icon on the desktop, then look for the drive the cd is in [drive d] right click on the drive and choose open, then look for the run file/setup then double left click on that.

Eureka after hours of searching I found the answer on the HP US sight and it was, as said by someone on here, put the 1st disc in and press F10 repeatedly. I was apprehensive because it said that it would remove everything and allow a new version of Windows XP to be installed, but I didnt realise that it installed it from the 6 discs as I didnt have a Windows XP disc as the pc came with it installed. Thanks to all who tried to help me.
