I'm always interested to read the views of people who went to the game.
Unless it's Husty.

I just stuck it in there on the off chance that some hand-wringer would rise to it and you've not let me down.
re Barnes, does it matter what colour the 'big centre back' was ?
Was thinking exactly the same thing mate - its irrelevant
It was fine in the context.BTW 'colour' isn't exactly the most PC term one could use.
I agree with this fine young man.Disagree.
The match thread is mainly for people who are listening on the radio.
The 'back from the match' threads are interesting as have opinions of people who were actually there.
It's relevant since it differentiates him from the other centre back. There is nothing racist about describing someone as black; it's as acceptable as describing someone by their distinctive hair colour or style.
I just got back. Bloody long walk that.

If he's big, if he's black, if he's a centre back, then there's no problem calling him a big, black centre back.
Fact is, like it or not, there are more white people than black in this country therefore referring to him as black to help identify him is very helpful. People should stop being so damn PC.
If we were in Niger and talking about a white centre back in Niger Division Two, it would be very sensible and relevant to refer to him as the white centre back.
WHAT IS THE PROBLEM, people.
But it's a useless differentiation given the sizable number reading this thread who didn't go to this game.
He may come across as cool, calm and collected in interviews, dispassionate even, but, make no mistake, the man wants to win. The fans responded in kind, giving him a rousing reception.
Out of interest, would you make the same point if he said 'young' center back?
I would suggest it makes him overtly racist, or entirely moronic, or (possibly more accurately) both.
proud to be a hand wringer

I would like to say that Husty was a BEAST at centre half in the morning match against Donny fans.
