I have only been to a few different away grounds. Out of the next few away league games I will only be able to go to 1 max.
So taking into account time it takes to get there, and the overall atmosphere/stadium, what away day is best out of Carlisle, Oldham, Tranmere or Swindon

For easy travelling and expectation of a win I would suggest Swindon as it is only an hour or just over out of London by road.

I have driven to all of the others and back in the same day, in the past but wouldnt consider doing it to Carlisle again now if I was the only driver.

So far the two voters have gone for Swindon. That was probably my first choice as its nearer but wouldnt mind seeing oldham.
Would be handy to get a few more votes though

If you have the time Tranmere is worth doing. Great fish and chip shop close to the ground and plenty of cheap accommodation if you want to make a weekend of it and go into Liverpool in the evening or on Sunday. As it’s now European Capital of Culture should be something to see. One thing about the away end at the ground – the stand is very steep so you get a great view.

Definitely Carlisle from that list, love going there, however, Tranmere's scouse minxes aren't bad at all!

Oldham is a crap hole - and that's being kind. Have always enjoyed Tranmere - never been to Carlisle sorry.

Agreed, Oldham is a dismal hole and they have miserable fans (hardly surprising when you consider where they live). Carlisle is the best as you see some beautiful countryside.

All pretty dire to be honest, Swindon will have the best atmosphere.
Carlisle if you are making a weekend of it, stayed in Lancaster after last season.

Out of the 4 listed I have only been to 1. However, I can still give you the benefit of my experience. Do not, I repeat do not go to Oldham.

It is a crap hole, but I've been there 3 times and enjoyed it every time, including the pubs near the ground. The ground is alright too, definitely gets my vote over swindon. That open former-terrace has nothing going for it. Carlisle's a beautiful place, but it's a bloody long way. Swindon's definitely bottom of my list anyway (though it's probably the only one I can get to this year).

It depends on what you want from your away day.

If it's just a case of going to the game, Swindon. If it's about the day out and having several beers with your mates, then it's definitely NOT Swindon and all the other three are great away days.

Like UB said, in the case of Oldham, go to Manchester and leave as late as possible. The same applies with Tranmere and Liverpool. Carlisle's the only one where the place itself is worth going to.
