I'm sure it's been said already but putting them somewhere close to the North Stand would probably help generate a better atmosphere, as the two sets of singing areas would go up against each other. Can't see the local neighbourhood bobbies being terribly impressed with that, mind.

I struggle to understand how the fan zone can cost 7 million
Fan zone cost £2m.

A bespoke antique gold coat hook especially sourced by PBOBE for you cost an additional £5m

“With a £7m investment to pay back”

I struggle to understand how the fan zone can cost 7 million.
It won’t. It’ll be triple that by time finished. This is Britain after all, where filling in a small pothole costs £30k and takes over a year to fix!

Why does it matter if they're on camera? There are loads of grounds where the away fans are on camera - Arsenal, Southampton, Spurs, Brentford, Man City, Forest etc. It doesn't affect anything surely?
It doesn’t but many many clubs have deliberately shifted away fans out of camera eye compared to years gone by.

Premier League rules state that away fans have to be pitchside. I really have no idea why Newcastle have been allowed to get away with not doing this.

So, they can't have the Upper East, at least not as their whole allocation.

I reckon they'll be given the south end of the East Stand, lower and upper.

I personally don't see that we need an arms race of football clubs trying to reduce the experience of away fans.

From WSU I don't see that away fans are particularly outsinging us. We're equally bad. But if a set of fans want to get some singing going, that's a positive thing. It should arouse us from our slumber.

This seems to us to be a step in making the atmosphere at games even worse

Imagine we're playing Palace and losing 1-4. Do we really want scenes of the Palace fans celebrating being shown to the world every time the camera sweeps along the East stand?

I agree with moving the away fans.

I'd also move the TV cameras to the East Stand.
You want to point the main TV cameras into the sun? I'm not sure a future is TV production is for you, I'm afraid

Shouldn't the plans for this be announced before people renewed their season tickets ?

Anyway, I expect they'll be shifted round to the SW corner, so less of them will be picked up by the TV cameras.

They're going to be put in the North, and the North (West Side Singing) will go to the East Stand Upper with the North (East Side non-singing), and the North (East Side Singing) and the North (West Side non-singing) will move with the North (Clap and sing occasionally) into the South, I hope that helps?

We're not going to put them in the East Upper when the club sell those seats for double the £30 an away fan pays, would be insane. It will be South East or South West i imagine
North West would be good next to the northstanders. Would create a good atmosphere. Away fans would be out of sight of TV cameras.

Love this news. Been saying it since the AMEX opened. Obvious solution seems to be East lower. I accept some would be miffed having to move but South East section has a big block of players families etc that will help.
