[Albion] Away fans in home ends

The club welcome and actively sell corporate packages to away fans with seats located in the home areas.

They are asked to be respectful and not over celebrate, and in the main that happens.

Would fans prefer corporate income to go down in favour of No away fans other than the away end?

I'm not sure that's quite the same thing - many of us will have taken advantage of similar hospitality at other clubs.

But in "General Admission", as the club refers to the non-hospitality areas, the unspoken rule is if you are in "the wrong end`' you sit on your hands and keep your mouth shut. You may still get rumbled, possibly if you're the only one not celebrating a home goal, but if you've been respectful then most will be OK with that.

I don’t understand what the stewards were doing when I hear stories like this.

At the Middlesbrough FA Cup game last year, I was struck by the presence of numerous small children running around the concourse at half time in Brighton shirts, with quite strong Leeds accents.
We come from everywhere nowadays.

I told the steward but the younger guy replies to the steward was im a football tourist when I heard him say I said that’s complete bollocks and the lads behind us said the same get them out.so I said to my daughter are you ok to go as they are going to cause issues

The club’s attitude towards their own fans and passing tickets on etc seems to be more draconian than the attitude towards away fans in home areas, which is something that actually poses a safety risk.

Two entirely different and unrelated issues. I would expect the club to be banning any away fan ejected from home stands and also passing on details to WHU in much the same way as BHA fans face consequences for passing on tickets.

Had 2 West Ham fans sat next to me in 1901. Both quite drunk but respectful and did their best to sit on their hands when they scored. No issues.

A few away fans meet an Albion fan in WSL Post match, personally I don't mind this as long as they aren't in colours or obviously away fans. We often meet up with friends if they have been at the game in WSL.
Unfortunately these fans were at bit OTT which clearly angered a few home fans.
Could have got nasty, luckily the stewards stepped in quite quickly and escorted them out.

I saw a kid with a West Ham t shirt in the WSU, he was sitting not far from me in the row below mine, didn’t jump up and celebrate any of their goals, I wouldn’t have noticed him if he didn’t have the t shirt on.

What is an away fan? Over last few seasons I've seen a grand mother almost removed by stewards for standing up a celebrating man city's title win while sitting next to her 11 years old grandson in full albion kit,, a couple of old guys one obviously had a previous stroke removed for standing up an clapping an away goal, and a very pleasant German couple with half n half scarves removed for standing and clapping a very impressive wonder goal by the away team,, those who spend their time searching for the reactions of other people when we have a goal scored against us to point out and complain to the stewards should maybe chill out a bit, if they are not causing a problem leave them be

The main point usually made on these type of threads is an away fan sitting in a home section, not wearing colours and keeping quiet, they wouldn’t draw attention to themselves and maybe wouldn’t even get noticed.
Most complaints are when an away fan is over celebrating their team’s goal and lording it over Albion fans.

It is perfectly possible for an away fan to be in the home end and keep their mouths shut. I’ve done it before. If people are too immature to manage that then they should be in the away end.

In retrospect best thing to do now is email the club. The more emails they receive highlighting these stories & the stewards inaction, the more likely the club are to act. Hopefully. Well, maybe not. But little point raising the issue on here and not informing the club about the lack of action from the stewards.

Unless they were sitting there with a flag and full kit, you wouldn’t even notice either.
It’s the ones that make it known, and cause trouble when they are found out that annoy me.

You are better off watching on the tele, people are saying even if they are ticketless they will still go abroad to a European game I really don’t get the point, when everyone else leaves the bars and heads to the game how depressing would that be.

Because you go with a mate who is a home fan ? I stood on the Kop at Bramall Lane when we played there late 80s. Shouting and screaming my support for the Albion seemed a poor idea…..although we did lose 3-0 anyway.

1901 is different as opposing fans are ‘welcomed’ providing they behave respectfully (like yours). I had a West Ham fan near me who celebrated, not over the top, and not inciteful, looked mid-late 60s (not that it matters), but it did upset a friend of mine, which I was surprised about. She apologised post game, but it did seem churlish, and nobody moaned when we put 4 past them last season….

Since I've found it so impossible to get tickets to see the Albion, I've done the opposite! I've been in the away at the Amex 3 times and also in the home at West Ham twice. It's the only opportunity I've had to watch my team and I'd always much rather be in with fellow fans. However I'm always respectful and don't actively celebrate.
