Away fans at The Amex

Miles from ANYWHERE. Expensive. Plastic/Soulless.

I probably wouldn't make a habit of coming here if I were an away fan.

You really are a miserable sod aren't you.

It took 8 minutes from Brighton station to Falmer yesterday on the train. It takes 20 minutes on the tram from Sheffield station to Hillsborough, 20 minutes in a cab from Leeds station to Elland Road, it's a 25 minute walk to The Keepmoat from Donny station, 10 minute train from Bolton to Horwich Parkway. That's just a few I can remember from this season.

Oh, and i'd say the atmosphere yesterday was better than the majority of those grounds too. But you keep complaining if it keeps you happy.

Must be fishing. How many away games have you made this year? Every ground I visit makes me appreciate the Amex even more.

Grounds visited this season: Brum, Burnley, Wednesday, Doncaster, Wigan, Hull.

Pretty sad this really, person asks a question, why might the Amex not be attractive to AWAY FANS. I provide a genuine answer from the perspective of an AWAY FAN. And I get abuse for it. Pathetic bunch of children on here and I'm not referring to myself. Every point I made was accurate, it's expensive, transport isn't away fan friendly and as NSC is happy to point out every single week, the atmosphere is generally shite.

Martyn I suggest you get some reading comprehension lessons mate, the clue is the both the thread title and in my post, AWAY FANS. You know, not YOU, or ME.

It's a pretty meaningless statement to say 'I wouldn't make a habit of coming as an away fan' when you make ZERO effort to come along as a home fan.

I live in LEEDS.

Twunt.

Martyn let us not forget mate that the last time I had a go at you on here you flounced off an made your own forum just to get awayfrom me, but carry on pretending you have the upper hand in this relationship if you like.

:flounce:

I know people who come from Scotland for games. Some blokes travel from the States a few times a year to watch. Leeds is, what, 270 miles? You went 150 for Birmingham so why not extend the trip?
I do enjoy your ability to call people childish and then refer to me as a 'twunt' two minutes later. Kettle meet pot.

That must be your most depressing post to date, well done!

Martyn, If the irony stick was just about to hit you straight in the face, do you think you would see it coming?

You sit in the Withdean during games and we will shout out the score for you, you should be able to hear the 27,000 of us happy fans from there

You never went to Withdean, try and remember I know who you are, and as an aside it's not THE Withdean, it's just Withdean.

Love and kisses.xxx

And I know plenty of away fans who says it's one of the best stadiums and love coming here.

I did actually visit both our previous grounds in the area for games, 2 at Withdean before things made it impossible in 2002

Fascinating.

First things first, it was most definitely you who came onto this thread to call me a bellend, so don't start telling me I'm childish.

I'm a student and I don't have a lot of money. When I do have money, I have the choice between spending it on socialising and doing things I enjoy like going on holidays, or spending it all on a coach fare down to Brighton every weekend and then even more to get into the Football for 2 hours. Do I WANT to go more often? Yes. But whilst match tickets remain sky high and whilst I live in Leeds, it wont be happening.

Of course I've said this many times before but no doubt I'll have to type it out next week as well.

Perhaps if you weren't so negative and boring you wouldn't be questioned every week? Just a thought.
I didn't claim not to be childish but you get all high and mighty about things and then completely undermine yourself.
Seems you have enough money to spend on away games. Why not give the club you 'support' the cash instead?

Most of those away games are a £10 return train ticket and £15 entry. And the bottom line is that away days are much, much more enjoyable events than a typical home game. I also don't buy this 'give your club your money' bullshit. This isn't a cult, I turn up to away games with a couple of hundred others and sing for 90 minutes, I more than do my bit. I don't like modern big money football, why the f*ck do you think I would seriously put any thought into where my money was going? My only thought is how I can see as much of the football for as little money as possible, if there was a fence I could jump then I would do.

Grounds visited this season: Wednesday

Wednesday away was £26 (possibly more) a ticket. Add in booking fee, the tram from the station, and that's £30.

A ticket for home games in the North Stand, behind the goal, with travel included from Hurstpierpoint (assuming that's where you're from despite not knowing how to spell it) is £28 plus booking fee.

But yes, you carry on complaining about our ticket prices, 'cos I'm well aware that Hillsborough and the surrounding area is paradise compared to the Amex.

The transport is very good given only one station is used, why people moan about it is beyond me

Agreed, I just don't get the wingers, clearly JCLs expecting a private cab ride from their seat to their front door.
