On the terraces!!
Anyone else feel really subdued in the days before a home game comparred to away ones?

this time last week, (and every wed/thurs before an away game) i am well excited by now, almost to a point at times where i could piss myself with excitmet.

However for the home games i feel alright about the game but hardly excited to say the least.

The away games are so much better - more atmosphere, pissed by 10am on the mini bus, loadsa singing etc.....

Any1 else ?

Yep have to agree away games are a lot better and once the ticket arrives the game seems to take ages to arrive

Absolutely, away games are the best, just the atmosphere, the fact that we know we'll make a noise. If only travelling wasn't so darn expensive.

away days are a great day out, if you have a day to kill

home seems dull these days, I used to like getting up Sat morning, doing a few chores then at 11 thinking . . .sod it lets go to the footy . . .pub . .lunch . . .stroll down Goldstone Lane, pay on the gate. theres at least 5000 more people out there who did the same on a regular basis I reckon.

egggsactly mate! days down the goldstone were different gravy - waiting to run up the north stand and onto the terrace were brilliant.

Away days are much the same anticipation etc.

its the "proper" fans who to away games (exception of Tottenham) there not just the people who see the likes of Leeds playing and go on their annual trip to Withdean

So people who sit in the pissing rain at withdean getting cold and miserable week in week out and part with 400 odd quid plus a year are What exactly?

Yes. After giving up my season ticket of 3 years (for Uni), I've decided that I'm only going to do away games now.

We'll see how long it lasts though. :glare:

after only going to 4 games in one season I gave my season ticket up, I can't say I miss it unfortunately, but at least it gives the chance for a 'proper' fan to take it

I do both, I class the home games as my standard meal and away games as the extra banquet feast on the occaisons I make them, about 10 this year by the looks of things

I did not mean to upset anyone by saying this, the point i was trying to get across is that many people who claim to be albion fans will only attend games with "big" clubs - i have respect for ppl who go week in week out.

Way out west
Last season was my first in over 20 years that I haven't attended a home league match and I probably won't bother this season, sorry if that sounds like herecy. Perhaps I should quantify this with the fact that since 1989 I have only spent about 4 years in England, but during that time I always made a few games during visits back home, and that included 2 years living in Canada. I was at Derby on Saturday and will probably go to at least half of our away games this season, maybe more. Travelling back to Sussex from my home in Gloucester takes far longer than getting to quite a few away games, Derby for instance was little over 2 hours drive (much less on the way back), at least there I got to see a game in a proper stadium.

There you go, now burn me at the stake...
