Am I going senile in my old age or have the words to sussex by the sea been modified.

When I was a lad in the North Stand in the 70's I'm sure we used to sing 'Oh we're going up and we'll win the cup for sussex by the sea'

where has this going up to win the cup come from!

first version flowed a lot better.

I always try and start the proper AL---BI---ON chant at away games, and will do so again on Saturday. Don't worry, we'll outsing the Villa, no probs.

And who was it moaning about our support at Southampton?! It wasn't that bad!

Would love to recreate the atmosphere of those Orient away days 10 years ago, when we f***ing murdered them every time. Spine tingling stuff

I must say I agree that we have SHIT songs and chants these days: that left side / right side chant is terminally embarrassing, we should be doing the Terry Garoghan version of Bright Eyes not the 'passion like fire' one, and Sussex by the Sea, as has been pointed out is ALWAYS sung too fast. (And the wrong words too but I'll overlook that as long as the speed can be sorted out.)

I'm not sure how we can solve it. Currently Chelsea have better songs/chants than we do and they're supposed to all be plastic johnny-come-lately fans.

I think it has actually got a lot faster over the last 2 seasons. I loved TSLR's efforts at Shrewsbury last season when they circulated the words. Its a shame that it never caught on though.
