In some ways I am glad Freddie will miss the Twenty 20 World cup. We don't have any chance of winning it anyway so the added risk of him getting injured gives me more hope he'll be OK for the Ashes. Play a couple of 4 day games for lancs in June getting him match fit come July in Cardiff. He should bat at 7 though, Prior has shown he is a more consistent batsman.

Although some of the Ozzy bowlers are unknown there we all know what they have done here over the domestic season, so don't underestimate them.
As for Freddie, he can f**k off for all I care, he has shown his true colours going off to the IPL risking injury and he take Pietersen with him.
I would rather have a team playing for national pride than cash cows.
Pietersen pissed me right off when I saw the Ashes test at the WACA, deliberately leaving tail enders to face the bowling so he would finish not out thus helping his average, it was so obvious.
I listened to the beginning of an interview with him on the radio after the Ashes success in England.
First question was, 'how do you feel having played a season in the England team.'
Answer, 'it's nice to have a million in the bank.'
Turned radio off, says it all really.
I think Flowers team minus the 2 above have more than a fair chance IMHO.

Do you work for Peanuts yourself then?

I'm sorry mate but these guys are professionals nowadays, and the fact that they can earn in 4 weeks at IPL what they would otherwise earn in 4 years means anyone offered it would be an idiot not to go.

A world where everyone put national pride and sporting acheivement ahead of dollar would be fantastic but i'm afraid there is f*** of chance of that ever happening.

Just as a matter of interest I presume you're quite happy to be working and helping the GBP of Australia rather than Britain?

Some of us are old enough to remember the bad days of Australian touring teams, names like Thomson, Lillie, oh of course Terry Alderman and that fat unknown Victorian Shane Warne....plenty were household names by the September of that particular year....

I remember seeing Jeff Thomson playing at Sussex. I think that may have been the last time I went to the Country Ground !!

I don't understand why everybody clings to the idea that Flintoff can bat so high. His recent test record is WOEFUL.

On current form he should batting below, not just Collingwood and Prior, but Broad and Swann too.

Pretty decent number 9 though...

Pleased to see no Doug Bollinger in the squad, he really would have thrived in English conditiobns and been a big thorn in our fragile batting line up.

In that case they should step down and refuse to play for the national team, then they can play for whoever they like this would lessen their chance of injury so they can make more money than they can spend.
Then other players can be given a chance rather than always relying on a minority group and maybe building some consistency in the team.
By the way I didn't leave the UK because of the cricket/football, I worked hard, paid all my taxes and got f*** all for it, look at what's happening at Westminster and to the country in general.
I had to be convinced that I would be doing the right thing for the family etc. as I liked it in England, but I do not regret it a bit now I am here.
Along with all the other immigrants of who 80% are from the UK and many more applying.

Must say I hadn't realised that katich' test record in England is so poor.

Career summary Grouping Span Mat Runs HS Bat Av 100 Wkts BBI Bowl Av 5 Ct St
v England 2001-2005 6 263 67 26.30 0 1 1/36 50.00 0 5 0

Does this apply to all people that played in the IPL? Would you similarly demand that Bopara, Collingwood, Mascarenhas, Shah and Napier never play for England again? Or is it just the players that you don't like?
