I absolutely can see the Cats winning away at Port, and i hope they do - because one of the fundamental principles of AFL watching is bollocks to Port Adelaide: the despicable entity that they were, are and will always remain to be. A plague on their house.
Looking good so far. 15 minutes left and up by 50 points.

Called it! Might don my sunglasses and bask in the glory a bit :)
(but i cant go too early cos i did jinx the pies into getting done over by Sydney a few rounds back!)
Yes keep a lid on it please. 😂

I thought we might sneak a win but never expected that quality play.

Incredible performance.

Dont like Hawthorn obvs, but i would absolutely love them to do over Port Adelaide today! Gonna be cheering on the mighty orange tomorrow too, GWS at home to Brisbane at 10.50 (after my yoga class, which is nice) and i'd also fancy them at Geelong in the prelim the week after . . . sydney derby on Grand Final day would be splendid!

Going to my Hawks family tomorrow night. I need Port to win this one, otherwise they will be unbareable.

The last one was incredible. Still can't quite believe the Swannies comeback!

That was an insane second half. Hawthorn captain threw it away by hitting the post after taking a mark in comfortable scoring range with a minute to play.

Swannies in the final, doling out a slap to the Port wankers this morn - lovely old job! Now to who they'll face- i'd prefer Brisbane, cos i quite like em, but suspect itll be Geelong, for a slightly dullsville rerun of the Grand Final two years ago. I think none of the three are particularly great, and whoever wins the whole shebang is going to have nicked it a bit.
No outstanding teams whatsoever this year, its really been up for grabs, I'd fancy Freo's chances against all of em (and we did beat two of em, and lost to the other by just over a goal) but it goes to show the benefit of getting it done when you have the chance - they have, and we havnt, and thats why they're at the big party.
I hope our players are watching it and seething at what they've potentially left behind, and it stirs em up for next year.

My prediction for the GF next week then - Swannies by 15 points vs Geelong  (and the now-standard 5am beers round my mate's house!)

One of the Geelong coaches collapsed at training and ended up in hospital yesterday. He is okay I believe but this is the kind of thing that can shift the concentration a little.

Going to be a tough game for us this evening but I feel pretty confident.

Much less confident of beating Sydney in the final. They have been the best team all year and it will be tough to beat them.

I will be going over for some of the British Lions tour next July/August so looking forward to hopefully catching some Aussie Rules when over there. Last time I saw any live games there was 1987 when they let you kick a ball round on the MCG after the game!

My only other claim to fame for Aussie Rules was that I once sat on a flight from Melbourne to Hobart next to Peter Hudson, who invited me round for Xmas drinks with his family. I then realised that he was AFL royalty!

They don't let you kick the ball round on the hallowed turf anymore but you can do it down in Geelong.

Yeah we weren't quite up to it. We've not been consistent all year so Im not that surprised.

My team was always Fitzroy so pleased that Brisbane are there.

Plus of course it is amusing that two well supported teams from the wrong side of the Barassi line get to play in the grand final at the MCG next week.
