Smith claims the coaches didn’t know, yet Lehmann was caught on camera, sending instruction to get Bancroft to hide the offending item.

Lehmann and Smith must surely lose their positions, plus playing bans for him and Bancroft.

my thoughts entirely, if this extends to management level this is a new low in cheating.

For such an abrasive bunch, Darren Lehmann and co really do get a lot of sand in their man-vaginas when on the receiving end. Seems a Wet & Dry case. They'll need to belt up and show some grit to get through this

Lehmann complaining about the SA crowd ...and yet not willing to accept those at grounds like the MCG do exactly the same ....cracking under the pressure

What did Lehmann say before the Ashes, something like he hoped the Aussie crowd would make Stuart Broad "go home crying like a baby" with the abuse they are going to give him.

Double standards much!

Considering his racist tirade against the Sri Lankans in 2003, his exhorting of the Aussie crowds in 2013 to make Stuart Broad leave the field in tears, his continued failure to censure his own players - Warner in particular - for their behaviour and now SandpaperGate and Oopsies-I-Trod-On-The-Ball-Accidentally-On-Purpose in this match. That's not to mention sledging Bairstow over the suicide of his father. "Boof" and his captain are clearly unfit for the positions they hold

Old news - it’s been going on in cricket for donkey’s years. Tacky substances on fingers of bowlers, groomed fingernails, kicking the ball, scuffing, pockets impregnated with polish. OK, they’ve been caught - who’s next? Professional sport is full of cheats - we see it in every match we watch. It ain't gonna get any cleaner.

During this years (last years?) Ashes, Johnny Bairstow was targeted by the Aussie team, with regard to his Fathers suicide. Classy bunch our erstwhile convict cousins.

Many former cricketers have voiced their concerns about this evident cheating.

Tufnell on Twitter: "Sandpaper in the old jockstrap - tricky place to keep it oooh!"

The Aussie cricket team appear to have a top to bottom culture of cheating and unsporting behaviour. Shame

Hopefully the Barmy Army can come up with a suitable chant.

Only needs one word.

"It's the first time it's happened" yeah. He means " it's the first time we've been caught dicking with the ball" Aussie hoon.

Fundamentally disgraceful cheating but sadly no surprise and no doubt a snowflake punishment

Maybe it was the first time they used bright yellow tape.

Not sure it was tape.
That's what they said in the press conference. They found sticky tape that the used to pick up grit off the wicket.

Here
It was sandpaper and if it had been the Pakistani team caught doing this they would already have been banned from Test cricket for years to come. Double standards? Cricket?
