Kangaroo court!
Apart from the cool Aussie reference, I reject that the suggestion it is without good evidence. I see Bancroft putting sugar in his pocket as pretty ****ing good evidence.

Good job at least by Cricket Australia, decent bans that send a message that such cheating isn't acceptable.
Apologies for quoting my own post, but I can imagine certain other cricketing nations completely glossing over an episode like this, so I really do respect Cricket Australia for doing the right thing.

The plaintiff crying on TV they knew that what they were doing was cheating and should suffer the full consequences it’s akin to drugs cheats

I suspect you meant 'plaintive'.

'plaintiff' is just about the opposite of what Steve Smith is, regards this affair...

BBC News just reporting that Lehmann has now resigned. Maybe now time to stop the crucifixion of Smith and Bancroft whose world's have horribly collapsed around them. Tho maybe not psycho Warner who seems to have very little sense of self-awareness.

Wasn't him that said " lets send Stuart broad back home crying " before the last Ashes ???.... poetic justice ?

It has to be said, Cricket Australia have more than lived up to their claims of integrity. Good on ya. World cricket should be grateful for the high standards they have not only claimed, but demonstrated.

Anyone else starting to feel just a little bit sorry for them now?

In the sense that folk need to drop the faux outrage and let it go now, yes.

They were idiots, they've been punished (unlike scores of others who've got away with it), now folk need to stop taking the moral high ground.

Compared to previous affairs the punishments are quite harsh.

At least that will forever be the suspicion.

If anyone is in any doubt then have read of this about Warner's taped hand and ask yourself if you believe that it's just a huge coincidence that the very first time he relinquished ball management duties to Bancroft was in this test. Where he then persuaded Bancroft to sandpaper the ball. Nothing to do with the allegations that Warner was already cheating of course.

If you believe this was the first time that they'd been doing this then you have to take that leap and also believe Warner (perhaps an even bigger leap).

There are other reasons why the punishments have been comparatively harsh. This has been a great damage limitation exercise by CA in that they've limited the real damage to 3 players only and the coach has got away without a ban.

There's pretty compelling evidence that other players knew what was going on and that this wasn't a one off - sugar in the pocket, warner's hand strapping and the fact that they were managing to get the ball reversing in conditions where nobody else could. But by giving the media, sponsors and public just enough blood to satisfy them CA have avoided any further investigation into this and possible previous misdemeanours.
