My favourite Treasure Isle track of all time. Heavy bass line. Hard "Chunka. Chunka" rhythm guitar with beautiful sweet Phyllis Dillon lyrics. Then the dub version follows.

I know practically nothing about the history of dub plates so do those in the know agree with this article? Chappers, DiP, 1066familyman?

http://daily.redbullmusicacademy.com/2016/10/dub-fi-dub-the-most-special-specials

Out of those, I personally like jammys. We had a few nice dubplates on the back of knowing Gussie P. One from Dennis Brown singing Missing you. with the line ooh king tafari im missing you... and my favourite by by Wayne Marshall... this is the happiest moment of my life, when king tafari play the sweet sweet vibes. We also had a few by Bobby Melody, and a 12 tribes singer Slimmer Levi.

Its sort of crazy now though. Youre nothing if every tune you play isnt a dubplate... and a lot of time, the dubplate isnt a patch on the original
We voiced Jackie Mittoos wife... dear lord. it was unplayable.

Im guessing its a lot cheaper now, as sounds ive never heard of are playing complete dances just playing them.

I think the best ever dubplate was not even a dubplate haha..a regular record that became the sounds anthem.
12 tribes sound in Jamaica, called JahLove
They had a result when this came out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3POWioRV-yE

ive never heard another sound play it when alongside them. would be sort of embarrassing

If you dont want to download it, hear it at https://www.mixcloud.com/mayfairmenthol/this-is-skinhead-reggae-1968-1970/

...when you hear it, you will probably want to download it though :)

'Watching the BBC 4 documentary on Skinheads on Friday night made me want to get the old records dusted off so here’s what’s left from my collection, the very very best early Reggae from 68 onwards, and what do you know, it turns out that it’s probably the best compilation of real Skinhead Reggae that I’ve ever put together! No chatting, just the tunes. - Pete Smith'

Sorry if this has already been covered, but after I watched the Don Letts 'Skinhead' prgramme on iplayer I was tempted by the 'You might also like' thing to watch the 'Classic Album: Catch a Fire' programme that was fascinating about how Chris Blackwell and his knob twiddler took the raw Wailers sound and made it more palatable for US and UK audiences.

Nice dub mix Dave. It took me a while to accept this type of dub having been there when King Tubby was making his sounds, but now I quite enjoy this style.

King Kong Disko - Studio 1 Riddim Wise pt.1

SingleTrack MP3

'For quite some time we have been thinking, what a pity, there are so many great but less well known tunes on classic Studio 1 riddims that never quite get the attention they would actually deserve.
So finally we decided to do something about it.
King Kong Disko now proudly presents Studio 1 Riddimwise.
This mix features 120 minutes of music produced by Sir Coxsone Dodd selected by
riddim, which means not less than 84 tunes on 23 Versions in a massive King Kong-
juggelingstyle. We really dug deep in our record shelves this time to select a load of classics, rare singles, 12” Cuts, LP gems and some odd stuff from over 40 years of Studio 1 history.
Let the good times roll, it’s Sir Coxsone at the controls'

'There are no days like the good old days…
So, right on time for the sunny season of the year we’re finally ready to drop the second part of our Studio 1 Riddimwise mixtape series.
This time we are offering you another load of 24 unforgettable version-classics, more than two hours of music produced by the legendary Sir Coxsone Dodd, mixed inna King Kong Disko–jugglingstyle and spiced up with a whole heap of vintage Dub FX on top of the cake.
All in all 84 tunes coming from all categories of the Studio 1 catalogue, reaching from the Rocksteady days of the late 60s and the classic Roots- and Discoreaggae sounds of the 70s to Coxsone’s Dancehallexcursions in the late 80s and 90s.
Singers, Deejays, Dubs and Instrumentals; Classics, Oddities and rare Collector’s Stuff; Singles, Disco-Cuts and LP-Gems; EVERYTHING!!!
King Kong Disko says have a great summer 2011 enjoying Studio 1 Riddimwise Part 2'.
