Well, talking about Volcano last week, and this week WCTD comes up with this...im dropping it using their links rather than mine..havnt the time tonight. Big up Jayman at WCTD....Has some write up with it, so ill copy and past the lot as its come.

To celebrate the long awaited, new revised & extended edition of Tero & Pekka's fantastic book about Volcano sound & dancehall runnings JA style circa 1983, I have put together a massive 4 hour selection of music inna Volcano style... Constantly amazed how big the reggae soundsystem world is. Never heard of this sound until very recently, but listening to their dubplates, they have clearly been around for a long time.

have you ever come across the Maranhao [ Brazil] Radiolas ? , vintage reggae is still popular it seems
cant put a link yet - but check YT for 'A JAMAICA BRASILEIRA'

or Ozreggae forum for The Maranhao Version - the easiest way to an old article from Beat Magazine -- fascinating stuff

Ive heard a couple of Brazilian sounds, and yeah, they tend towards foundation. Silva who used to select and sing for Kingtafari in Brighton did some dubs for one before a clash..muamba (like the footballer who collapsed today) or something similer..cant really remember..it is big there though..
