Youth Promotion caught live at the SNWMF in 2005. The first part has Drifter running a wicked revival selection including hot specials from amongst others: Dennis Brown, Lone Ranger, The Melodians, Johnny Osbourne, Tenor Saw, Freddie McGregor, Terry Ganzie & Sugar Himself.
After a while Sugar & his daughter go in a old time style on the mic before Richie Spice steps up to sing over some rhythms. Veteran deejay General Smiley gives us the original Studio 1 'Rub a dub style' after Sugar performs his classic 'Vanity'.
nearly 3 hours in good quality...
Notes:
Tony Screw's Downbeat set are in session and he is dropping a mighty selection of Studio 1 classics.
Carlton Livingston is in fine form and he gives the Boonville massive Armagideon, Trodding through the jungle.
Hot summer, 100 weight of collie weed & Rumours over the timeless Studio 1 rhythms.
Brigadier is as always soild as a rock handling the rhythms with ease especially when Downbeat drops his sign on tune the great 'Warn the nation' and with Carlton singing 'Dancing to Downbeat sound' first before Briggy gives the imortal 'Downbeat sound the raggamuffin sound' it is a really great moment.
As if all this is not enough, we then get to hear the legend that is Alton Ellis live & direct on the sound and even though he is "hoarse" he still manages to belt out 'Downbeat the champion' much to the delight of the SNWMF posse and now to us also!!
Featuring: Brigadier Jerry, Freddie McGregor, Horace Andy
Selector – Cecil Reuben
The Twelve Tribes of Israel Organisation presents a celebration of “Rasta Jubilee Chapter 1” held in Bristol in 1999, with JahLove (JA) alongside JahRevelationMuzik (UK). 12 tribes leading mc Brigadier Jerry alongside Freddie McGregor and Horace Andy.
If you have been to reggae parties, or concerts in Brighton down the years you will probably heard Bro Culture and also Mikey Troopah who still has a night down the Volks.
