Sydney .
I think the stage is set for Potter to play an absolutely audacious tactic on Man U.
A bluff worthy of the great man Tony Bloom himself.
An hour before k.o the official team sheet is handed in with Veltman in the starting line up - Lamptey on the bench.
No relaxing for the United players as their coaching staff now utterly perplexed after having schooled their squad all week in how to cope with Lamptey now have to quickly revert to a very unexpected Plan B.
30 to 45 minutes of intense planning & lecturing a new modus operandi before the United team troop out onto the Amex pitch.
Match kick offs and at the first stoppage in play Veltman is subbed for our wunderkind, cue confused thought waves amongst the devils in red,
and with the Albion now holding a position of ascendancy, we seek to exploit their state of bewilderment by being the only focused team out there on the pitch and thus take control of the game.

C'mon Graham. If you're reading this, you know it's worth a punt !

Or at kick-off, line up in a 4-3-3 formation and immediately the match starts switch to 3-5-2. Make sure we score in the first two minutes before the opposition has worked out what formation we are playing.

Only one small problem:-

Utd have no idea about The Albion, let alone Lamptey.

Not sure this would work. Surely if they knew of Lamptey and had been preparing for him then it would play in to their hands for us to bring him on. They just revert to the plan that they know and have been doing training rather than something from a pre match chat.

Also would shatter Veltmans confidence as would make it clear that we don't think he is good enough to break down united.

Other than that I think it's a great idea.

I think you have put somewhat more thought into your analysis and response than the original post warrented!

Other than Pogba coming across and kicking Lamptey in to row z and then having to move Ben White to right back because Veltman has gone off thus weakening our central defence, I can't see a problem with it?

This happens in Baseball, People send out a false pitcher for the opening pitches then bring him off. However Why the hell would you do this to Veltman, insulting.

Obviously starting on the sauce early with the pubs shutting at 10 tonight.

What happens then if Lamptey gets injured and has to go off after 30 seconds, thus meaning we've used 2 substitutions after 2 minutes?

Or, or, or... how about we decorate the pitch and the away changing room with Carabao Cup flags, banners etc, then put signs everywhere saying:

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Manchester United
Carabao Cup Third Round
12:30
26 September 2020

...so that United think this is the cup game, and put out their reserves.

C'mon Greyumme, if you're reading this you know it's worth a punt!
