Ashley Williams on MOTD just now: "Not even a foul. Definitely not a yellow card."

So what happens now? Everyone knows it was the wrong call. Does the ref get dropped? Does it get rescinded? Do we get another apology to add to the collection?

I'd happily bet none of these things happen. He could've easily cost us two points today with his ineptitude but will obviously get away with it scot-free.

MoTD thought Baleba's 2nd yellow wasn't even a foul
Ref's eyes deceived him there. He seems more focused on Beleba coming across him, but it looks like a slip from the Bournemouth player. There's minimal contact if any.

It's interesting how in live time it does look like a yellow card offence, but when it's viewed close up there is doubt about it being even a foul. From the angle he has, the referee has seen a clear foul because it looks that way. It's also interesting that Radio Sussex said the instruction came from the fourth official concerning the card.

So, again, I sympathise with the ref and go into my bunker. It's clearly the wrong decision and could have had an impact on the match. But, like it or not, these things happen and will always happen.

Attwell is a see you next Tuesday
Referees make wrong decisions, it's part of the game. It doesn't make them a c****. And it's that sort of abuse that means there are less of them coming through. If you were called a c*** every time you made an error at work how would you respond ? I do suggest that if these things raise folk's blood pressure to the point of irrational outbursts then trainspotting may be a better pursuit.

Most of the errors supporters call refs out for actually aren't when viewed neutrally. Today it was an error. It happens.

I like what I heard an experienced ref say about being extra careful about giving second yellows. He said that for him it needed to be accumulation or an "orange card" offence. This sort of commonsense would have saved Attwell from making his embarrassing blunder.

Whilst I don’t like Attwell it did look a yellow all day from his view. It clearly isn’t when slowed down and shown on the reverse but as soon as it happened it looked as if it was the right call. Could have done with some help from the 4th official but even to him I expect at that speed it looked questionable.

No. The nearby fans and players didn’t react. Cut the sound of the drama queen commentator and it was a nothing coming together.

The ref made the amateurish blunder of reacting to a player writhing in pain. Rather than instead seeing what actually happened. If in any doubt, don’t act.

Radio Sussex felt the fourth official was behind the error.
