It’s a shame we’re too nice as a club and not calling this prick out
Genuine question, when was the last time a ref was sent to the monitor and DIDN’T reverse his decision? As soon as he went to the monitor I knew a penalty would be given. The fact that it took him bloody ages with Martinez deciding to try and ref the game from the sidelines, and getting away with it, made it even worse for me.But Pawson could have stuck with his onfield decision.
They're not supposed to re referree the game via VAR, but what does Atwell always do.........What is this guy’s problem? Every single time he’s involved with us, he screws us over.
We could see in away section as well, that Pawson was talking at length with Atwell or someone else...... guess they're trying to persuade him why it is "clear and obvious" when it clearly isn't.Two borderline penalties - but that's the point. Borderline is not a reason for the VAR to stick their oar in. How can it be clear and obvious when you need to watch it 30 times?
Offside is an objective decision, either they're in an offside position or not. The only times it needs on field assistance is to determine if someone offside was interfering in play.Completely agree. Why call the ref over to a monitor for some infringements and not others? VAR can rule on offside remotely, but penalties have to be decided on field? Why?
You see this is when I get irritated. The referees are not biased against our club - we all know that even if in the heat of a match we don't always think so and of course we always think we are hard done by because thats part of the pantomime. By common consent most people think we've got lucky not to have a player sent off in the last couple of games. But objectively and consistently I remain absolutely convinced that Attwell has some sort of mental block with us that causes him to go against us in the majority of 50/50 decisions. Do I think it's a conscious thing - no, does it mean we lose when he refs - no, are there always decisions in the games he refs or is on VAR for that are match changing - no but the evidence over the last few years is overwhelming starting with the extraordinary Spurs match and continuing amongst others with the insane VAR decisions in the Villa game a year or so ago, Baleba's utterly ridiculous yellow card at Bournemouth and yesterday's preposterous VAR intervention. I was only amazed he didn't send the ref to the monitor for the first one even though JPvH clearly touched the ball. Let's see when he's next an official at one of our games and what happens.I agree with the fans of all the other 19.clubs in the league. The referees are biased against our teams. And the fact that when we talk about that bias and only list decisions that went against us and not the opposition, that's purely coincidental.
They spent a long time discussing whether Verbruggen had been fouled. Certainly that looked almost as good a case as giving a foul against Pedro. I suspect they were heavily swayed by the fact Villa had just had another big penalty shout rejected for Van Hecke's challenge... not that it should make any difference. We could see in away section as well, that Pawson was talking at length with Atwell or someone else...... guess they're trying to persuade him why it is "clear and obvious" when it clearly isn't.

Off topic, but weren’t we supposed to be getting automatic offsides under VAR by now? Making them instant like at the 2022 World Cup rather than dragged out.
After the autumn international break!
That Spurs away game under RDZ was just absolutely astonishing. If we'd have won that, as we should, I'm convinced we'd have finished top four. Not that I'm still bitter or anything.I don't know why Attwell is biased against us, but he is.
I have tried to stop thinking about that game. I have never been so ANGRY when watching a football match as I was then. That Spurs away game under RDZ was just absolutely astonishing. I confess that I emailed PBOBE after that game, but I waited till the next dayI have tried to stop thinking about that game. I have never been so ANGRY when watching a football match as I was then.
I have never ever seen anything like that Spurs game. From memory there was a handball from a Spurs player in the box that wasn't given, an alleged handball from Mitoma when scoring that of course was given, an alleged handball from MacAllister that VAR somehow saw which disallowed Welbeck's strike, the foul on Mitoma in the box, the foul on Dunk in the box and Solly going clear and being fouled which would have been a red - neither the foul or red card given not to mention numerous smaller decisions all going against us. Every single decision went against us that day - he even sent RDZ off! I remember leaving the ground that day almost apoplectic until I saw the incidents again and realised it was way way worse than I thought at the time.I confess that I emailed PBOBE after that game, but I waited till the next day
I got a reply, which I don't think was written by him personally, totally rejecting my suggestion that Attwell was biassed against Brighton (consciously or not) and, therefore, corrupt.
I was requested not to utter such words again. However, the evidence against Attwell in the subsequent 2 seasons is pretty much overwhelming.
I was at that game. The incidents highlighted on Tv only told half the story. There was also a two footed lunge by a Spurs player which was imo a clear red card and a Spurs player throwing a ball onto the pitch right in front of the Lino to stop a quckly taken corner but with no action taken. It was an extraordinary performance by all the officials that day.I have tried to stop thinking about that game. I have never been so ANGRY when watching a football match as I was then.
