Well yes, that is about as cheap as any property gets in Brighton and it would more than likely be interest only as I'd be looking at having the smallest possible payments.

Although I was of course being facetious

Some agents have a clause in their contracts where they receive a % fee for "introducing" a tenant to a landlord if the landlord then takes the tenant on privately. To stop this happening without their knowledge, they insist on doing a "check-out" service to make sure the existing tenant leaves the property. Means the tenant cancelling all their bills etc & having their deposit forwarded to a new address. It's a complete racket, but as long as the contract has been signed, your landlard won't have a way around this.

Not all agents do this, so definitely worth approaching your landlord to find out.

Don't ever use Just Lets (beyond useless & cost me legal fees to get my tenants deposit back from them). Trusted as Friends of the Albion - how wrong could I be?! Better to use an ARLA agent so both tenant / landlord have some protection.

f*** me people, settle down.

csider - out of order comment to start all this off. Just because YOU don't need to rent, it doesn't mean that everyone who DOES is some kind of second-class citizen.

Incorrect, I was called a twat and responded to that. So nothing out of order my end.

www.arla.co.uk

"Agents’ Fees And Charges
These will vary dependent upon local market conditions and the particular services being provided by the Agent. However, whether dealing with a landlord or a tenant, an Agent should provide clear information on what costs would be incurred, including any potential future financial liabilities to the agent that are reasonably foreseeable and quantifiable."

Don't know if there's anything in the original agreement?
