45 mins of silence in the first half. then noone came on a things started to happen. penalty won and scored started an atmosphere and then murray's cracker raised the 'roof' again. apart from that nothing really worth getting excited about. however it was always going to seem a bit flat after last weeks 4-3 blockbuster and bridcutts goal celebration. that was what i'd call an atmosphere!

Yes it was crap. I said to the mate sitting next to me that I'd been to noisier funerals. It livened up after the pen but the first half you would have been deafened by any pins being dropped!

I hope people get out of this silence habit in time for the AMEX - Withdean is excusable but i'm worried people will stay in the Withdean coma and forget that we're meant to be the home team and we're in a proper ground next season...

It got a lot better after the penalty.

Some good banter with the Tranmere fans. Fat boy in the grey and "we pay your benefits!".

Any sound generated at Withdean gets lost. At the Amex it is contained by the structure plus the four roofs. A lot of people that sit in the North Stand at Withdean say the South Stand do generate noise, but us in the South Stand cant hear it because we are all facing away from each other!

It seemed pretty flat, or at least until Noone came on however due to the nature of the stands, there could well have been constant noise from some sections but you just can't hear it

I actually thought there was a bit of a buzz of anticipation which was muted by the goings on in the game leading up to the substitutions. As soon as Bridcutt and Noone came on it picked up again.

Poyet praised the contribution of Craig Noone. who came on midway through the second half and gave the Albion the impetus required to finnally breakdown their stubborn opponents.

"We needed to change because something was not working. The difference now from a few months ago is that we have more options on the bench.

"Nooney got the ball and started running. People became excited in the stands and it created some atmosphere in the ground. That was very quiet for a while today.

"sometimes you ask the fans to give you something extra and sometimes we have to give the fans something extra, and thats why Nooney was so important today, because he helped us do that.

i could not make the game yesterday due to illness, so listened to it on the radio and I must say that the atmosphere sounded awful (when I say sounded awful, you could not here a thing for 70 mins of the game!!!), even john bryne commented on it, cant wait for trhe Amex and a proper noise when we are at home!!!

Very true point - but when the whole ground sings it's usually that 1 song - we need the whole ground singing lots of songs at the amex. And the North stand lot from Withers need to re-think how they 'support' during a match!

i think it will be worse at falmer, will have the usual quiet lot at withdean + a large section of ex man-u/arsenal/chelsea fans who may or may not have a positive affect on the atmosphere.

We did! Just the Allllllllll-Be-ON song but we did sing (not too long obvioulsy that would never do)

We all STOOD AND SANG for the last 4 minutes of the Carlisle game. Now, that's enough excitement for one day!

Well that first half was probably the dullest 45 mins played at Withdean this season.
