[Albion] Atmosphere at the Amex comfortably the worst in the league

Atmosphere is/was bad however it's not a surprise when teams just come here to sit back and disrupt the game as much as possible. Constant stop start and 'injuries'. Hard to generate an atmosphere when they're constantly doing that

When you say "meant to be" - we are. And the atmosphere at home to Chelsea and, to a lesser extent, Liverpool agrees with that statement.

Agree with the OP we need to bring some noise tomorrow. It's going to be a tough game.
Noise you say, the North Stand couldn’t even bring themselves to pull a flag over their heads - when I saw a load of them refuse to participate in this brilliant gesture to the manager, even before we kicked off felt like the writing was on the wall for this one.

Seems we're on our own here. I really thought it was good second half and first 20.
It was fine - not great by our standards but not silent either - literally look at Fulham away for those that went - only heard their fans for the freed from desire nonsense played after the game. Keep the faith, keep the positivity and move on.

Second half the team came out firing and maintained it, from the NS the crowd matched that intensity. It was great.
Shhh don’t praise our excellent fan base and co tribute negatively to a troll thread that got bumped cos we lost 🤷🏻‍♂️

The NS was brilliant in the main, WSU even started a chant and I saw the ESL south end go ape shit at a refereeing blunder :lolol: .

We’re fine.

It’s not unique to NSC, I’ve seen this atmosphere silly over-analysis on other clubs fora, some people have a falsely nostalgic impression of days past. Old Division 1 and 2 matches shown on Freeview reveal dead quiet 40,000’s in the 70’s and 80’s.

Most forums I have a gander on have threads moaning about atmosphere to be fair.

As Sheebo said - not spine-tingling stuff but decent and flowed with the goings-on on the pitch

If we're going to get that flag out it needs to be when the players are already out and RDZ can see it - not when half the North Stand are still drinking beer.

That said, it looked from the WSU like it was the same issue as the one that kills the atmosphere in the NS - the group under the scoreboard refusing to join in with anything that originates from the Police Box and vice versa. We should all be getting behind the team instead of having a willy waving contest. I'd love for someone from each group to come on here and defend themselves.

Everyone was there pretty much it was only a few minutes before they came out, just that it reached a point, and I watched them, and they refused to pull it over their heads so it couldn’t carry on going. We’ve got no chance of replicating a Chelsea atmosphere with this kind of stuff going on.

I'm in the WSU North end. Loads and Loads of blue seats when it came out. But you're right about it stopping - hence what I said about the scoreboard lot. Anyone at all from the east side of the North want to defend it?

Agreed. I do think the Police Box lot are worse for not joining in with anything unless they’ve started it. Can’t remember the song first half but it was started by the scoreboard lot, made its way into the West who joined in, yet the Police Box lot mostly stood their motionless. Would be very interested to hear their perspective.

I don't think it's got anything to do with that. The truth is, our singers are too dissipated. Our north stand (or WSU) is not the wall of noise that say, the Leeds south stand is. Same goes for various other sections of the ground. No fault of anyone really - the club has done a great job of filling the seats for over a decade after all - but while everyone is welcome and we're all fans, a lot of those people are not the sort who feel obliged to generate noise.

I don't see it changing without the club prioritising atmosphere. It's a shame they can't a) allocate seating to independent but affiliated supporters clubs behind both goals and b) move the away support to the South East like Everton do.

I’m with whichever group didn’t come up with the useless De Zerbi chant.

I'm towards the eastern end. Nobody is willy-waving, you just can't hear what the other end are singing so we start our own up.
On the odd occasion a song does travel across the stand, when we join in, the other end have stopped or gone onto another.
There needs to be a singing section in the middle that co-ordinates all the songs.

As I said on the match thread, it says a lot when the loudest the North Stand got in the first half was when Shane Duffy came out to warm up...

It’s just that desperation to applaud anything that has crept into our support.

How can applauding SD and singing songs of SD adulation during the match help us win?
