I'm yelling constantly at my TV for the Albion. Does that count?

That’s fair enough. I just struggle to understand the mentality, especially those in the North.
There’s no real huge bank of congregated non-stop singers filling 1-2000 seats every single week.

And I expect negative reactions to this, but it absolutely is the case that we are many fans second club, and we are a nice, friendly “day out” home stadium experience. It’s hardly Galatasaray is it.

Brighton fans have never been the most vocal at home, but I don’t think our home support is any worse than Fulham, Brentford, West Ham and numerous other clubs around us.

High profile away games are where we show some passion and create an atmosphere. I can count on one hand the number of times we’ve created a good atmosphere at the Amex in the last few years - and that’s absolutely normal for a club like ours

when the safe standing comes in, can they make it "non-allocated" seat location ?

main issue with any new build is lack of planning for "home end" feel - spurs have done a ood job with thier "wall" stand

will be intresting to see what everton have created at their new stadium

ironically, when the away fans get moved around the corner, the south stand could be the place to make the noise.....

For the people complaining that it’s all our fault as match-going fans because we’re not creating an atmosphere like Dortmund playing Bayern every week, if it’s so important to create a huge atmosphere then why did we lose to Sheffield Wednesday in that play off semi?

Is it more a case that if the players play worse than their opponents, regardless of the atmosphere, they will probably lose? Maybe the players should at least look like they give a shit sometimes, too many didn’t on Sunday to be frank.

Nail on head. Very few PL home support produce a continuous wall of sound. The best I can remember in recent years was Forest away when they were battling relegation. Their support and noise that night was incredible. The following season when they were 'safe' .... it was a different experience altogether ... quite muted in comparison.

The issue I think is we as a club attract mostly families and old people to games due to how expensive tickets are and thus you end up with the stadium being comprised of people who can only sit down and five year olds who aren't known for producing a lot of noise at football games. Obviously I'm not expecting us to rival Galatasaray for noise levels but with the price of tickets, the demographics we attract to the ground make it difficult to generate noise. Of course the West and North Lower are the frontline for noise as it were but even then having a modern stadium, albeit an impressive one, will naturally decrease the noise. Another problem is the notoriously terrible transport options to get to the ground, with only a single always late train line and beng next to a motorway encourages a more defererential attitude to the football, as people with young kids (back to the point at the top of this post) want to get the park and ride back to their nissan juke on mill road. It was the only possible site for the ground, however with the size of the club in 2011, comparisons to the likes of Leeds and Newcastle who have stadiums in the heart of the city was never really envisaged, and unfortunately unless ticket prices go back down (which won't happen short of divine intervention) the empty seats and lack of noise will continue to plague us. Even Selhurst, as much as we give it stick, is able to generate noise being situated admist a built-up area. I'm sorry for the essay but I would be very open to hear feedback on my theory.
Feedback? Well, agree from a distance. Ban the women and children, burn the oldies, erect a monorail, bulldoze the stadium and build a new old stadium in the city centre and every game will turn into a Turkish working class derby in no time. I'd suggest it to Paul Barber at the fan forum.

I just love all these theories some folk on here have on this issue at the Amex, completely choosing to ignore or just simply not believe that the same issues exist pretty much everywhere in this country- big clubs and smaller clubs. Poster earlier on in the thread talking about a united fan at the game saying how shit it is at OT. Keep seeing 'well at palace they manage it' ... do they, really? Better than average I accept (from about 200 'ultras') but I've watched many a game at Selhurst where its gone very quiet when behind. Same everywhere.

People discussing how atmosphere can be improved - fine
People slagging off our fanbase as if we're unique to the issue, which always seems to happen after a bad result, is fecking irritating

At Leicester last week there was barely a peep out of the home fans until the 90-something minute when they equalised. And then suddenly it was "Oh it’s all gone quiet over there". Very irritating, but same in many other stadiums.

Away fans are often the loudest in my experience because
a) they include some of the most committed, passionate fans
b) they’re drunk.

You've only got to look at Anfield, the atmosphere myth perpetuated by sycophantic vehicles like BBC 5 Live or MOTD. The Palace end was a library on Sunday for the most part - a team winning away at their rivals. Enough said.

Palace fans were loud and raucous. If you’re in the middle of the NS you won’t notice but from my seat in ESU they were having the time of their lives.

And Anfield can be incredibly loud and unified.

The atmosphere in the ground is terrible. The players are constantly trying to get more noise from the crowd which is fair enough. We need to support the team whether they are winning or losing.
A few things need to happen: 1. The away fans need to be moved so they are not so dominant behind the goal.
2. The north stand need to sing one song together rather than different songs clashing with each other.
3. People need to stay till the end not leave the ground early. Embarrassing - where is the support.
4. Other areas of the ground have to sing
Oh just f*** off

They were flat for 'surprisingly' long periods, we were ESL right next to them, loud in bursts, but the North was too at times. Anfield is flat much of the time.
