but yesterday i nearly got evicted from the ground because i was smiling and getting behind the team
Why were you smiling? Was it "wind"?......can't think of any reasons to smile yesterday, apart from the final whistle of course.

i think it'd be a SHIT idea

nothing will make the atmosphere any good at withdean

everything we do to try to make it better makes us look DESPERATE

Yeah, let's all give up, eh?

If everyone had that attitude, life would be WANK.

80% of the Withdean crowd are there to mumble and moan about how shite we are, then tuck into there flask of soup at half time, then give it another 45 mins of groaning. For as long as we are at Withdean we will never get an atmosphere.

Thats not strickly true i have been to a couple of there matches late 80's early nineties and you could hear a pin drop crap atmosphere and small crowds and they had roofs so not all is lost.

2 things.

1. you need more than one drum, so find a friend with one too. And practice, so you know what you are doing.

2. And a trumpet would be good. :p

I also think a sharp blow on an oboe can do wonders.

I think, many years ago, some poorly attended northern team tried to improve the atmosphere by piping taped crowd noise - from elsewhere , obviously - over the tannoy system, and this was banned.

Many clubs seem to have a band at their games these days, and for my sins I used to watch Lincoln City when I could not get to the Albion game, and sometimes the noise from the 1500 faithful was awesome.

But they had a roof, catering,so they were dry and fed.

And Lo! It was sooth that the Albion need Falmer.

I think it is a good idea but don't let that great pacifist, freedom fighter, liberal campaigner Mad John Catt know. He would certainly disapprove.

I thought the crowd were slightly noisier on saturday but that the second half was so bad it subsided into silence.
