I understand what you are saying but it devalues the competition given the guy who 'won' was not actually the best athlete at the time. He does seem to be a complete tool though.

Perhaps the best solution would be similar to what cycling have done with Lance Armstrong's TdF wins.

There is no gold medalist, just a silver and bronze.

He certainly doesn't deserve a gold for taunting his opponents like this.

Hopefully he'll learn a lesson, but in my experience guys like this, when punished just get an even bigger chip on their shoulder.

Its actually MUCH worse than the footballer example. In that scenario, the goal has been scored, and the match has been stopped. This guy took his shirt off whilst the 'match' was in play, swinging it over his head as he came down the home straight, and jumped the last barrier. He was taunting his opponents, rather than celebrating.

See above. It was highly disrespectful. Clearly an absolute tosspot. No sympathy.

It was.

However, the athlete in a rush of blood to the head, whorl trained really to earn his medal has it it taken away rather than a fine or warning.

A football player can get sent off, he may however May not lose a winners medal because if it.

It's excessive punishment in my view

I don't disagree with you, tbh. I just don't feel very sorry for him, that's all.

As someone that has been involved in Athletics for 24 years, this. I thought he was lucky to get only a warning when he finished.

What a LAD :lolol: Very harsh punishment IMO, yes he's clearly a monumental helmet but 'stripping him' of his gold seems a tad over the top given he was so far ahead he probably could have put a mr blobby costume on and still won! :lolol:

Fair enough. Not because he's French I hope

I also realise how many spelling and grammatical mistakes I made in the last statement.

Not because he's French - the Gold went to another Frenchie anyway.
