Same as previous seasons, we don't need to worry about our form.

We're not going to get relegated, and it's becoming evident that this isn't going to be a one off season where we do something spectacular either.

We will continue to pick up points here and there - but I think this is return to normality. A few draws, a few losses and every now and again a win.

I should stress that right now I’m a little concerned but not hugely worried, but we’ve now failed to win in 8 games (not far off a quarter of a season) and haven’t won in over two months. We gave ourselves a bit of a head start but we’re devouring that cushion right now.

What I think is more worrying is the shades of last season re-emerging. Bossing possession and doing nothing with it, failing to fashion chances, and when we do not taking them. And we can’t blame injuries right now, the only likely starters not available today were Sanchez (don’t think you can put this defeat down to Steele) and Welbeck.

Like I said, I’m not worried but I am increasingly concerned. These are winnable games we’re dropping points in, playing like kings to get a point at Anfield is great, but not if you then only take one from Newcastle and Villa.

You are right to be concerned, we started well and got ahead of our usual performances but have now slowed down and several clubs have now had a " bounce " from new managers and they are now gaining ground. Watford, Norwich, Villa and even Newcastle are turning things around, Man Utd are only going to get better once Ole is kicked out and Spurs will perk up now Conte has got started. Palace are no longer looking like a joke and Everton will improve once their injured players return. We have, on paper, a fairly easy run of fixtures but as you say, getting a point at Anfield was magnificent but failing to capitalise currently is shameful.

For all the stick Gus took, there has to be a ceiling, right? We're not going to keep on improving all the way to being Champions of Europe are we.

Were 8th in the league. Maybe this is our ceiling. Probably not even that high. Admittedly we've got here by a load of good results followed by a load of iffy results, but we're still 8th. For all the moans on here, by definition the 12 teams below us have had worst results than us. Their fans should be moaning more.

We'll probably slip down. Because let's face it, even 8th is a ridiculously high ceiling for Brighton.

Of all of those clubs, Wolves are just above us in the PL, 6 are in the bottom 7 of the PL and the rest are back in the Championship.

Get a grip, people.

To me, yesterday's team selection looked like one from a lower position hoping to contain a bigger club and get a draw. We were full of defenders and midfielders and little in attack .
Trossard can be great on his day but needs the support of a hard running , bigger forward to create opportunities. We know Welbeck is injured but perhaps we should play a bigger forward , even if the ones available are not good finishers. At least the team would look balanced.

Hairy POrters approach has to be questioned in recent games. We're still survivors in this league and he needs to play to score points against the crap teams. Norwich, Newcastle and Vanilla are 3 games we should have had a haul of points from. 4 5 or 6, 2 is a very poor return.

Fairly concerned at our failure to pick up points against the strugglers, but happy enough with our early season harvest. If we perform as poorly against Leeds as we did yesterday and fail to get anything out of the game, then I will start getting very worried about where we will end up come the end of the season.

We struggle against any team who sits in behind the ball as we simply do not have the quality to break them down. That’s why we have struggled at home as many away sides know this and just sit in and hit us on the break.

Indeed, GP has to find a system and personnel that will allow us to counteract this approach ... easier said than done. The current ‘play our way’ strategy is repeatedly failing as (as you say) teams are sitting in deep, with those gaps between midfield and defence very difficult to find... we start to slow down and rapidly run out of ideas... teams are very happy to let us have the ball... we don’t have an aerial threat in normal play so our crosses are easy to defend against... centrally we can’t shoot from distance. As the opposition it’s a bit too easy to defend against and wait to break... hence our poor results in particular at home against the bottom 5 or so teams. When we play a bigger team who readily attack we look miles better as we are good enough to exploit the gaps.

All in all it’s tough to take, as I say it’s up to GP to find a way to threaten the poorer teams more consistently... players, tactics, shape ? Probs a combination of all three.

Why oh why were Zeqiri and Sima sent out on Loan?We all know Welbeck has injury issues and Connolly is Mr billy-bollocks.Welbeck is our best striker when fully-fit. Trossard has been a revelation this season but needs support.Stop him and you stop Brighton
