[Albion] At what point does Lewis Dunk become a bonafide legend?

What a difference 4 and a half years make. So many wanted to take the supposed £5m on offer back then.

If it ever needed confirmation that this place can be full of negative, knee-jerk types the moment something goes wrong

On the other hand, there has consistently been a few posters on here who recognised just how good Dunk was going to be in his first couple of seasons and have backed him throughout.

I’m sure hans kraay fan club is one of them as I recall him backing me in a debate where quite a few (most notoriously BensGrandad, bless him) were convinced we should sell him for a few million.

It’s been no surprise to me how good Dunk has been for us. He is a legend. All he’s probably missing is an iconic moment. I think he’ll get a winner against Palace one day and that’ll be it. Be nicer if it was lifting a trophy though.

Usually the legend tag is only awarded after a player has either retired or left the club and we can look back on their contribution to our club. I have been a fan since 1964 and I believe Lewis will be remembered as a true legend, local boy, regular since we arrived at the Amex, captain in consecutive Premier League seasons, England cap. consistent form, brave (remember when he put his head in to block a shot?). Will definitely be remembered as a true legend.

Is the correct answer. Well said. He‘ll eventually join Foster, Cullip and co in the Albion Valhalla. But you only get membership after you’ve retired.

Most important player in the club? Tick.
First name on the teamsheet? Tick.
England international? Tick.
Albion captain? Tick.
Brightonian? Tick.

If all that's somehow not enough, his reaction to Balogun's goal in last season's Palace derby at the Amex tips the scales.

Everyone else goes to congratulate the scorer, Dunk celebrates in front of the Palace fans.

Cut him and he's going to bleed blue and white.

He gets the rivalry alright.

He's one of our own.

Legend.
