Our submitted list of registered U21s: (HGP = Home Grown Player)

Bailey Leo Smith

Curious that young Bailey Smith isn't down as a HGP even though he is a Worthing lad with British heritage.

I don't think it has anything to do with heritage or nationality:

What is a Home-Grown Player?

A "Home-Grown Player" means a player who, irrespective of nationality or age, has been registered with any club affiliated to The Football Association or the Football Association of Wales for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons, or 36 months, before his 21st birthday (or the end of the season during which he turns 21).

Good to know, cheers. Must be eligible to be home grown very soon then.

I still find it strange that players are kept in a bubble all week but when someone scores, they run over to fans and get embraced by god knows who, who has been let in the ground without his COVID status being checked.

Players should not leave the field of play even if they haven't scored for 3 years. And all those that do should get booked.

Aside from the embrace as strange us all meeting up around 5.30 over the last few Saturdays with no masks in sight and for the most part our covid status not checked????

I have absolutely no doubt at all that whatever decision is taken about Sunday's game will be made with a view to benefitting the self-styled 'Big Six' club.

But a couple of points:

Would it be better for us to play a weakened Spurs while so badly weakened ourselves? Or to face them later in the year when everyone on both sides is fit?

Will it be considered whether the players affected have been vaccinated or not? Personally I think that if players haven't been jabbed then it's their and their club's look-out, someone else can step in.

Are the Spurs players affected first-team regulars? Actually, ignore that. It's a squad game and they should have enough players. I don't think there would be any question of calling the game off because of our injuries.

On Talksport earlier they were talking about this.

In relation to Spurs they were saying that UEFA will make Spurs play Rennes on Thursday if Spurs have got 13 fit players including 1 goalkeeper

I recently read up on a game in Portugal when Darwin Nunez scored a first half hat trick , the opposition however were made to start with nine players which included two goalkeepers

The game was called off at half time when they lost two further players through injuries

The report is linked below

There has been a massive row in Portugal over this match. The Primeira League clubs have ripped into the League management saying it was outrageous to expect Belenenses to play with only 9 players available. They were 7-0 down at home at half-time. The League looks rather foolish in retrospect, not that they didn't look just as foolish before kickoff.

Uefa's rules are stricter because it's so difficult to find alternative dates on which to play postponed games, and their competitions move on very quickly. The PL is far more flexible - some would say ad hoc..

As I said on another thread, it's also worth factoring in that playing the game later in the season will allow Conte to get his ideas more firmly embedded.

To me the most important point is:

Do I want to watch Brighton this weekend or do I not want to watch Brighton this weekend?

The answer is easy. Game on please.

The whole point of having a squad is so that you can field a team on matchday, regardless of who those players might be.
If spurs can't field XI players for whatever reason, they should forfeit the game and points awarded to us for the win. I'd expect the same if the shoe was on the other foot too.

read somewhere that spurs have 37 players they can use for matchdays we have 36 so unless they lose 24 players then game should go on
