Both of my grandfathers were killed in action. RIP Jack & Cecil.

Yes. Never miss it.

Superb. Poignant. Beautifully done and tremendously moving, as always

My Mum and Dad both served in the armed forces and both my grandfathers fought in World Wars.

At the going down of the sun
And in the morning.
We will remember them.

my dad was a commando and was dropped behind enemy lines to commit "wild raids" which was basically creating havoc behind the lines to pull enemy troops away from the frontline , he did two drops and lost most of his mates , he never spoke about it until the last night we spent together alone with a bottle of teachers.......brings a tear to my eye now just recalling how matter of fact and humble he was about the whole thing . there were eight commando's at his funeral up in findon .......they were all like him , humble and accepting of what they had been asked to do........pretty sure it was a coincidence but as we stood outside the crematorium a harrier jet flew straight over us and dipped it's wings, one of the old boy's smiled and winked at me and i cried like a baby.....they were amazing old blokes and they hung around for the wake , the commando association has been very supportive of my mum since , it is one of the things that makes you truly proud to be British.
