Obama doesn’t actually have the power to change anything. He would need a majority decision from the Senate, which is unlikely.
Although I agree that the Guns need a ban, the NRA argument is that it is a multi Billion $ industry. $6 billion in taxes and $33 billion in revenue.
It is for this reason that I suspect a ban will never be granted and not for the hill billy archaic arguments that the NRA seem so keen on expressing (protection, rights etc).

Gun related suicides per 100,00 US 6.70 UK 0.17
So 71 times the number of murders and 39 times the number of suicides. I would say that is statistical significant enough to prove that gun control does work.
