The Watkins goal as the big key moment in the whole game. Yes it was a good counter attack but can't help feeling GP needs to look at the set up against this. Very poor positioning and getting back. Webster was quite at fault. Prior to the goal he was tiring and had already made a bad error so this was coming. Another part of the problem was Lamptey was off who would have sat back and Gross ( want he meant to be RWB after?) was the one whose poor cross lead in their box lead to the goal.

An aside from the game, I was in section P row RR does anyone know what was going on a few rows in front of me. A few Albion fans were making a lot of complaints to stewards with phone footage, and I believe one Villa fan was ejected. I didn't notice any missiles being thrown, and the Villa fan must have been some 20 or 30 yards away so it could have been an audible insult.

Had a (very pissed up) bloke acting a bit of a **** at the back of the lower tier (one of ours) for much of the first half…….eventually got moved by stewards, who then came back up and asked the poor woman he was with whether she was his wife…..she reluctantly said yes (she’d already told someone that he was ‘acting like a twat’). She was asked to go and calm him down as he was about to get chucked out….

Petrified and petrified... Matt Targett had him in his pocket unfortunately. It was evident that Lamptey was horny to make dangerous raids into the Villa penalty area but once Targett stopped him and either took the player or the ball the first four or five times, Lamptey started to either cross it (to no one) or give it to Gross. They respected him, but petrified... nope, not yesterday.

Well he was right in front of me, and trust me 'petrified' is bang-on, Targett even went down with a groin injury after one foray, that 'amazingly' got better. Back peddled to the area every time, to reduce the space.

Perhaps didn't come across that way on TV?

He was being triple teamed at times and that's why they brought Young on to offer more protection and 'yes' he did end up going backwards, but that was because our tactics were so wrong, there was normally only Trossard in the box.

I was there at the location - continuous homophobic gestures from 3 Villa fans - one wasn’t ejected just spoken to by the police, dont think the other two were even spoke to. Despite the police and stewards watching them do it and video footage - they decided not to eject them. Initially steward said it was just ‘banter’.

Ive written a draft e-mail to Christian Pulsow (not sure I’ve got his email right either) just want to sit on it before deciding to send so it’s factual not emotional. No club is responsible for the idiots who attend what they are responsible for is how they react. Supposedly they’ve been reported.

I was not impressed by Aston Villa or West Midlands Police action but I was highly impressed by the lad in the same row with me who spoke to the police and steward (and had the evidence) - remained calm and controlled throughout.

….as the manic street preachers said …if you tolerate this then your children still be next….

Yeah that's how I saw it too.

Granted not Matt Richie levels of cacking himself but then again Targett help was considerably more amenable than Alan St Maximum.

Targett winning the ball from Lamptey eight times is what I saw and also what the numbers says.

I dont think the plan was to have Lamptey on the sideline crossing it into the box, but rather to go into the penalty area and look for cutbacks. Even with Maupay + another one or two of the dwarves in the box I dont think putting high crosses into the box would have ever been the game winning game plan for Brighton.

Targett didn’t want to and couldn’t cope with Lamptey on his own which is why every time Lamptey had the ball he was doubled or tripled teamed

He did extremely well. Man of the match.

Yes, he did get help from his team mates a couple of times. It is normal and doesnt take away anything from his performance.

Struggle with those numbers and doesn’t represent what it felt like or looked like. Perhaps Targett, got the credit for the triple-teaming?

Re the crossing I don’t disagree, but the fact he got crosses in the box, would indicate Targett didn’t perhaps do that good a job. Due to the tactics there were very rarely more than two options available where it mattered.

Who gave him MoM? I not sure how true it was but the premier league gave it to ‘where’s the touch line’ Mings so not sure that counts for much.

It was more than a couple, every time (well first half anyway as it directly in front of me) Lamptey had the ball he had 2 or 3 on him

I gave him Man of the Match. Him or Biss.

That’s what I thought, Targett defended Lamptey brilliantly. He couldn’t live with him for pace but his positioning was superb and got up and down the wing all game.

Again I agree with you about Bissouma too, they were the best players from both sides. Cucurella and McGinn the next best for both.

Did you go Fareham?

Thought Biss was very ordinary by his standards.

Just interested as respect your opinion……

I was sitting upper tier 4 rows from front right by villa fans. 3 fans giving all homosexual abuse. One who started it looked like he was being escorted out, then 're appeared 5 mins later in second half!!!? This seemed to encourage two other two too give abuse out, one with beard 40's and one early 20's.

One Brighton fan was discussing with stewards for most of second half, even having to go into the Aston villa home end !! To chat to police. Seemed a daft idea, why police couldn't come over to speak to him in Brighton end. After Brighton fan went into villa end and into concourse 3 or 4 villa fans tried to follow into concourse including the lad in his 20's. Luckily stewards were able to stop them as it was only a few! Would have been very worrying if it had been a few more as would have over run stewards, leaving the very brave Brighton fan complaining about the villa fans in the villa end the just a policeman to protect him.

After about 40 mins of complaining by a Brighton fan with vid, the stewards escorted the villa fan in 40's out, however he stopped by a Brighton fan in upper tier first row to give death stair? Not sure what he had done, seemed to be nothing to do with him he was with a couple of kids. Not sure if the guy in his 20's was asked to leave however he ended up going out as well.

All seemed to be very badly delt with by vilĺa stewards who wanted to just sweep it under carpet as banter!!! Well done to Brighton fan for persistence, bravery and clever thinking to video it!!!

Your post was what i needed - I’ve sent email to Christian Purslow to ask what they are doing about it

Good point re Roberts very well made, and perhaps I should, but for me at the moment, he doesn’t even stand out amongst his peers in U23s and was outmuscled frequently at Rochdale. At 19, I think Dunk was a long way ahead and I remember his debut at MK.

As you correctly highlight the club seem to rate him and they are in a better place than myself.

The thing I like to remember about Roberts is that he played in an FA Youth Cup tie away at Manchester United and a certain Mason Greenwood didn't get a sniff. I don't know what happened at Rochdale but he wasn't exactly surrounded by good players, they struggled with him in the side and without him
