I haven't heard that to be fair. Glenn Johnson bizarrely felt that was a penalty? Said a point was fair result. I ted to agree on the chances they missed first half. Thought we defended reasonably well and contained the spaces in the second half a bit.

First para from BBC report

Brighton won at Villa Park for the first time in their history, deservedly edging out Aston Villa in a dramatic and entertaining encounter.

I made it all the way through that without a beer. Am now relaxing with a pint of fresh Dark star APA. Have a great evening everyone. We deserve it!

Genuinely perplexed by the elbow to Veltman's throat as well. When that was replayed looked a definite red. Is that just my Albion bias?

One other thing. Won't be last on MotD for sure. That was one of those games where me and the boy were losing our shit at times, yelling at the telly and my heart rate was through the roof at the end. Had I been a neutral though I would have enjoyed that immensely. So much going on, so many chances.

Yeah definitely a point was a fair result.
Like a point would have been a fair result last season. Tough shit Villa! you had that result coming, as did we.

Aston Villa boss Dean Smith, speaking to MOTD: "I don't know what a penalty is now. We could all hear the contact inside the ground.

"If VAR thinks it's not a penalty then just tell the referee it's not a penalty. It wasn't given so we have to take it on the chin.

"I don't think we were bad. We missed chances and we've made big mistakes for their goals. We have to defend much better. Brighton were a threat on the counter but I wasn't overly concerned.

"I thought we had control of the game and if we had taken our chances we would have won."

What a game, could of gone either way, but a great 3 points for the Albion. Takes us away from the bottom 4 and 1 point away from the next pack

A very good performance. Welbeck was class throughout.

Rode our luck a fair bit as you'd expect, but could have scored more goals ourselves.

I think Lamptey was harshly dealt with. I also think Grealish physically picking Veltman up by the shirt was worthy of more than a yellow - the little shitbag clearly thinks he should be in charge. Might be a great player but unless you're a Villain, he will always be that diving, cheating twunt.

Off to open a bottle now.

I feel much more smug by politely clapping the achievements of Grealish. England's finest current player, bettered by the Albion today. No jubilant celebration. Just a wry smile and my best wishes for his England career.

Excellent result! Really dug in for that result. 2 cracking goals as well. Even better that it really annoyed Grealish too !

You can't appeal a yellow car, no matter how much of a cheat sockboy is.
The reason sockboy is the most fouled player in the premier league is not because he's particularly good. It just he holds on to the ball too long and people just don't like him

Dammit, must've been a freudian slip as the car he was driving back from whereever during lockdown and isolation was not yellow....silly me:blush:

Have to say thought Maupay was a '10' at giving them the wind up. I know he didn't score but he really is a pain to play against and covers a lot of ground. Also was part of the Wellbeck goal.

I was more concerned with our defenders especially Webster , not sure how he really fits in when playing White in defence.

Webster's passing was poor again. He's not the finished product but he has too many games where he gives it away incessantly.

Yeah forgot about that in that last few minutes of mayhem. Why was it not looked at? Why not sent off? Mad. This always happens with us. Did Lamptey actually touch Grealish? No replay shown again. You can be sure MOTD won't look at any of it. It will all be about Grealish, then Barkley injured and oh how nice for Welbeck (who was great by the way).

Great win but fortunate. We've been due something like that. Want Potter to succeed as it's easy on the eye but still think we're unessarily soft (Don't want us to be like Burnley!) and don't enjoy watching four centre backs on even before BDB. If Potter is relying on a right from shot from March then that's worrying.

Why fortunate? It was a pretty even game between two defensively poor teams and we scored more goals than they did. There's is absolutely nothing "fortunate" about it. ???
