Acknowledging that we will not make the play-offs.

Lets get to an accumulation of points to ensure safety. The number is probably worthy of an entirely separate debate but for arguments sake 50 pts.

Once that is reached then Mr Wilkins should infuse the team with attacking fearless football to enthrall the Withdean Fearful and (hopefully) attract back the missing fans until the end of the season. Whether they come to Withdean in top place or bottom place lets go out and attack the opposition. Be it 4-3 or 3-4, I think the Albion fans will enjoy the spectacle.

With team stengthening in place and concluded in the summer this should place us in good stead to make a good attempt to go up next year.

get enought points not to get relegate is the main priority every season, as with this season

With Forster and Richards both injured from yesterdays game, we will have to see how we can cope if they are out for a couple of weeks

Need to use the loan window well. With the amount of time wasting Kuipers odes he is bound to get booked soon, meaning a 1 match suspension

Get to 52 points quickly, then use any remaining games to experiment with the side - blood some youngsters, give fringe players an extended run, give Sullivan a game etc

Hopefully we'll finish above last season's crap finish.

Somewhere between 5th & 10th is the best we'll finish this season or if we finish any lower than where we are now,Deano will have to look at himself cos the Blooms certainly will be.

You're really not happy with Kuipers are you?

As I have said on another thread I have to disagree with you. I was a keeper and I have coached keepers so I analyse what they do more than outfield players.

It is a common criticism of keepers that they don't punt the ball downfield quickly enough, particularly if you need to chase the game near the end. In my opinion, when those shouts come from spectators they have not assessed the situation upfield, they just want the ball nearer the opposition's goal. Understandable in one respect but if the ball goes straight to an opposition defender, what have you gained?

I'm not saying FDM gets it right every time, no keeper does, but there are numerous times when he is right not to give it the big hoof, and the spectators are wrong.

Last night someone near me screamed at him to get the ball upfield when, in my opinion, it would have been completely wrong and a big mistake.

Next time you watch him and your gut reaction is that he should give it the big boot upfield, assess the situation upfield and ask yourself if your first reaction was the right one in view of the positioning of our players.

If you still think you are right, fair enough. But, as a member of the Goalkeepers' Union, I would hope that you might see that it is not always the right thing to do!

I am a Kuipers fan, and always have been, and always will be.

But what is the point of wasting so much time. I t achieves nothing when you are not wining, and gives us less time to score a goal.

3 of his 4 bookings have been for time wasting (the other for punching his own player)

There were times when Bowditch and Forster were free up top and he could have passed it to them instead of waiting for 4 defenders to mark them

When he did release the ball quickly he put us on great counter attacks, where we created chances.

I'm just trying to get used to the fact that we will have been in the same division for 3 straight seasons (assuming we stay up this season). Unthinkable isn't it? :p

Call me foolish but I don't think we should be giving up on the play-offs quite yet. We're 9 points off with three games in hand, so if we did win all those 3 games we'd be practically in them. Now I'm not assuming we're going to win all those games, but even 6 points would leave us thereabouts searching for a place. I know as a team we don't really look good enough for a Top 6 finish, but I haven't been impressed with many of the sides we've seen this season anyway. If we can put a run of decent results together then I don't see any reason why we shouldn't be finishing top 10, with a chance of making the play offs still there with 2 or 3 games to go.

play offs must still be the aspiration. it dosent take alot to put a run together and fly up the table. win our games in hand and all of a sudden it looks a bit better.

I agree, if the gap is still 9 points after games in hand have been played then i think its over

We will have to agree to disagree on that! At least we are both FDM fans. He is much better than some think, but he is not perfect. He is not going to be - he is a 'third division' keeper.

The aspiration should still be to make the playoffs until it is mathematically impossible. With the the games in hand it is far from that, it's a big ask but that has to be the aim. Of course the sooner we get past the 52 point mark the better, but I don't think we are in any real danger of being dragged into a scrap.

I find it quite funny how everyone has gone into crisis mode of the back of one bad result/performance. No one was too worried after the Crewe game...

Not foolish at all compared to people thinking their aspiration is avoiding going into the 4th Division.

It's normal to aspire in an upwardly direction and as you correctly point out, the games in hand is the key to what is realistic. Win our next one and we can look up positively, win our next 3 and we can be serious play off contenders and pretty much forget aboout relegation.

Lose our next 3 and it's another story. Let's take one game at a time and see what happens. Whatever happens let's support the team :albion2:

OK - you're foolish. In addition to that, your optimism requires medical attention, and dare I say, psychotherapy.

Play-Offs - :lolol:
