RT What the f*** is a retweet?

^That. Someone just tweeting what you tweeted. It's quoting other tweets.

CMS gets bombarded with some shit requests @barreloffun what's the worst retweet you've begged for?

:lolol: I've never begged for a retweet ever! It makes me cringe.

I think the only retweet from someone 'famous' (and not requested) was from Effy of Skins fame. Maybe a couple from journalists. Quite easy to miss a retweet.

I do know the most succesful retweet was when I captured Vicente in the Italian.

Edit: No. Actually, I have just remembered that I sourced out celebrities that champion charities for motor diseases in children and asked them to retweet my friends just giving page. I don't think any of them did. I had high hopes of The Hoff

It'll take something special to outdo your Vicente tweet

I've never requested a retweet, it just doesn't interest me, but I guess people do it because having somebody mildly famous repost something you've written ends up being shared with the many people that are following them - almost undoubtedly more people than are following you. Thus you have your name and whatever banal comment you've made show up on the screens of thousands of people, almost like they acknowledge your existence in some way.

Now don't get me wrong, I get excited by celebrity acknowledgement just like everyone else. In fact I once skipped all the way into work after Graham Coxon HIMSELF replied to something I'd suggested to him on Twitter, so overjoyed I was. BUT surely you ruin all the enjoyment of this buzz if you've had to ask for the acknowledgement, in the form of a retweet. It's lazy, it doesn't mean anything and it just pisses other people off. Far better results could be achieved by actually READING and RESPONDING to people you are interested in's tweets instead of pestering or even guilt tripping them into sharing your dull request with everyone who's following them.

And I'll tell you something else I seriously do not understand. I recently had a friend on Facebook ask me to tag her in a photo I'd put up, of myself. She wasn't in the photo, or even close. We weren't even at the same place at the time. What possible reason could she want for having her name come up under a photo of my ugly mug? IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE.
