Against Huddersfield it was really evident what a positive impact the more technical Latino crew are having on Barnes' game. His movement, control and general play is clearly developing well and can only be benefiting from playing with the Spaniards. Good player for us.

Cut out the petulance and he'd be one of our most important players imo. Good player.

At the game vs Ipswich at the Amex last season, I've still got the voice of some asswipe ringing in my ears with "**** off Barnes your shit" shortly before he scored a brace. Said gentleman didn't talk much after that.

Some guy near me is like that. At that game, after spending most of it criticising Barnes until he scored. He then told Gus he could take barnes off now, because he never scores two. Shortly followed by the second going in.

After a very brief google search, it appears he's scored 45 in 139 appearances for us. And even though the official line is the transfer fee is undisclosed, a couple of websites quote his fee at £470.000. Make of that what you will

Rumour on here tends to vary from 30,000 to 150,000. With each person claiming to trust their source.

its not great either, the recent misses have been in key tight games, but at the same time, fair play to him for grabbing the ball and having a go. He's not my cup of tea, but dont have an issue with him being in the side as he will be tomorrow.

Cometh the hour cometh the man imo, we may not need a loan striker if Barnes and Ulloa can stay injury free and in Barnes case, control the red mist which seems to come down quite often.

Quality player improving all the time.

73.3% scored. Typically, the premier league stats show 70-80% of penalties scored (as of october 2011 it was 11 from 22,

2010-11 Murray took 2 and both were saved (I didn't keep penalty stats before that season) 0%
2010-11 Bennett took 2 and both were saved 0%
2010-11 Dicker took two and one was saved 50%
2012-13 CMS took 3 and one was saved 67%
2012-13 David Lopez took 4 none saved 100%

They're all smaller sample sizes so take them for what they're worth.

But 73% is good. No, not great, but definitely much better than "shit".

On his day, he's the glue that binds the attacking elements of the team together. On an off-day, he stands out more than most.

I guess he's never going to win universal acclaim, and fair enough. But having said that (and there's no polite way of putting this) many of the people I know who slag him off give the impression of being a bit thick in other ways.

Pork pie land.
I am a big fan of his ability, and he is still developing.

HOWEVER, he is prone to acting like a five year old such as his pathetic act at Wednesday. He needs to grow up before he will fulfill his potential.

Agreed, when he's good he is good, when he is bad, he is really bad and it shows. I dont mind him, I see now that he is techically worse than the others and I think he has tuned his game to suit that, he used to try and play quick football or long raking passes and he cant do that. He works very hard, likes a tackle wins headers in OUR box and does his bit for the team and pops up with the odd goal, not enough for a striker, but the odd goal. Still my biggest gripe with him and it really does p**S me off is the ease that he goes down on the slighest of touches for a big bloke. that really does F*****G Irritate me. But he has his part to play in the remaining games and I hope he smashes them.

The "falling forward at the slightest touch" routine is almost comical now but he wins a fair amount of free kicks that way and you can only assume Gus approves.

I agree Barnes is technically behind some of our flair players but I'm genuinely impressed with his continued improvement. He's had some great touches this season and when he's got a bit of confidence he more than holds his own at this level. I certainly don't agree with those who dismiss him as a League 1 player.

Reflects my thoughts exactly......a part to play, but probably from the bench.

He learned to dive from a certain Glenn Murray who continues to use the technique to great effect I notice.

Loved the interview with Barnes in the Huddrsfield programme where he describes Ulloa's first goal for Albion (v Arsenal) as having come from a "brilliant" cross - a cross provided by Ashley himself and displaying exceptional skills.
