I reckon Barnes is quality for a Championship player of his age. However i do think he played too much for Poyet.

In terms of this season I don't think he'd be missed but could potentially develop into a Premierleague striker by his late twenties.

I think I'd rather keep Barnes than Bridcutt.

Sarcasm yes? Must be or either sadly deluded. Can't fault his work rate but seriously his finishing is awful, his touch is awful and he has no pace, all things required to be a good striker. If we can get 500k for him with his contract up at the ned of the season then we should snap their hand off.

Bridcutt has only been back after a lenghtly lay off but everyone knows his quality, a couple of below par perfomances and the typical fly by night supporter reaction saying he's no good, makes me laugh !!

I'm still a bit suspicious about this. It wouldn't shock me I he did go (I'd be gutted though!) however I have a few points

1. Oscar today said when he signed Obika: 'Our target was to bring an extra striker into the squad, alongside Leo and Ash' ......so why would he then let him go?
2. This guy on twitter, I know he's pretty reliable as a skysports reporter but they have been wrong before
3. This story is NO WHERE else to be seen. Nothing on twitter (sustainable), nothing on the internet and nothing on tv. By now this would be at least on skysports new & website as it is a sky reporter who tweeted it?
4. Would he really go? Just because a bid have been accepted doesn't mean the player will go
5. He hasn't ever expressed an interest in leaving, even when the likes of celtic & hull were interested

I might be completely wrong but who knows?

!

No, just common sense and ability to see what players bring to the party. We have no-one in the squad who can do Ash's job.

He's not quick but he's not slow either.
His touch for the goal at Bournemouth wasn't bad, I reckon :clap2:

Unfair. He should have scored, but it was a harder chance than it looked because it was a bit too high for him so he was never going to be able to keep the ball down.

Too high? His feet hardly left the ground.

BUT I still wouldn't like him to go.

I'm hoping this news is true. In my opinion Barnes is the most over rated Albion player in the last 30 years. I do not enjoy his performances. Too much arguing with the ref , diving and lacks the quality in front of goal....once again in my opinion.

We need another striker now, but in my opinion we have needed another striker all season.

If true, I wish him all the best at Burnley.

We're right, obviously!

I think I see what @H H Brighton is saying, in that Bridcutt is a class apart to 70% of the squad. However, what he fails to see is that we have other players who can do his job (not as effectively, but still to a Championship standard) whereas we are weak in the striking department.
Leo's just back from a 2-month lay off. Obika's just fit after a 5-month lay off. CMS is coming back from a YEAR on the sidelines.
Ash must stay.

Shit, everyone back off, this guys opinion somehow means more than everyone elses.

Easy to pick out one of the goals he's scored, could spend hours going through the chances he's missed. Like I say I would never slag the bloke for his work rate but he's extremely limited at this level and 500k would seem a reasonable assesment of his real worth.

Everyones opinion is worth exactly the same mate, didn't pretend otherwise but allowed to disagree with other peoples especailly when their opinion is Barnes is worth keeping and Bridcutt can go

The stats - which have been shared on here many times - prove that Ashley Barnes' strike rate is about as good as cams and a little worse than Leo Ulloa (who all agree is a seriously top drawer striker). The fact is that his finishing isn't awful. It's about as good as most strikers in the top half of the championship. And the rest if his play is way better. Gus loved him. Oscar has relied on him and clearly dyche rates him.

I agree that his finishing needs work. The point about the goal at Bournemouth was his touch (which, not incidentally, I believe is pretty good) set it up.
We'll have to agree to disagree aon the value. I think he's worth four times that, myself.

Everyone's opinion is not worth the same. Professional managers and coaches know far more about their players than any fans.

Fair play. I think the reason why some people have this feeling, me included, is our lack of depth up top. Keeping Ash and bringing on Obika is giving us that depth.

Losing Ash puts us back to square 1 with the depth problems up top including now having an unknown entity in Obika and losing Liam means not alot in that dept. as we haven't seen him most of this season.

Sell Brids, use that money to get Barnes to say yes, and bring in Conway. Simples IMO.

Good job your not a chairman then, that valuable is way below, £1.5 - £2 million is what I reckon Barnes is worth even as a raw striker.
