So you see Barnes regularly challenging for headers and not standing passively next to the defender, you don't see him chuck himself to the ground at the first opportunity, you don't see him leave a leg trailing half the time, you don't see him constantly moaning at the ref over nothing.
You can't really compare him to Holroyd, who simply doesn't fit our style of play, but certainly puts in more of a fight than Barnes does.

Alright then, but lets look at the player that Barnes replaced, Davies, Barnes isn't really fit to lick his shoe in comparison.

Problem is mate, so on here are so blinkered they refuse to believe any Albion player has a weakness.... until off course they leave us for another club, then they suddenly become shit. And some on here can only make snide comments, don't try and discuss anything with them........ They don't like that.
I think Barnes has got better in second half of the season like many have said before, but I still think he is by far our poorest player out the regular starters. But he scored a goal today and thats all that some see, even though most league one srikers would have match his tally had they had the chance to play in this side. Just watch his goal on the tellybox later, he hardly went in at full force, it almost looks like him and the keeper hesitated.
At best he's probably an average league one striker. At worst decent league two striker. Certainyl not good enough for a runaway div one side, which is probably why for all the time we have had two decent strikers in front of him he has been third choice. Notice how he only got his starting place back the moment we won promotion. Better to have your own player starting than a loanie, and If Wood was our player Barnes woulod be on the bench still.
Time will tell, but I think next season , Murray, Wood and Sandaza will move on, and Gus will sign Hoskins and two others and Barnes will be the spare third or fourth choice, a bit like Holroyd has been this, and spend his time on loan with league one or two side, with maybe the odd sub appearance for us.
If he is a regular starter, and score plenty of goals I'll hold my hands up and admit I was wrong, but as he hasn't been a regular starter this season as soon as Wood got here, I doubt if I will be eating any humble pie..
