You noticed it too. I commented on the other thread that Neecha had predicted another player before they left for Spain.

Based on Bennett, Noone etc, it seems to be based on how much we paid for the player, and potential. If we really don't think Barnes could make the step up, I reckon around £1.5m would see him go, considering how little we paid for him.
