The spooky appearance of Dixon of Dock Green at the very end was a nice touch. Especially since PC George Dixon's first appearance was in the 1950 film, The Blue Lamp, in which he was killed, only to return again in the TV series which ran from 1955 to 1976.

Good point Lord B, so there is a precedent for this sort of thing!

brilliant television - found myself feeling very very sad at the end, which is unusual as tv doesnt normally get to me like that

top work

They didnt need to DRAG it over THREE seasons tho. The SUPERIOR Life On Mars was fine with two.

At work - probably
I thought the new guy mentioned an IPhone, so presumably was meant to be from the present day. I may have misheard though.

He did say iPhone, I think Deno meant had there been a new series, the copper from the present day would have gone back to the late 80's/early 90's - as indicated by the Merc 190 brochure

I had to explain to Jnr. who Dixon of Dock Green was. The first Cop series on TV. You couldn't avoid it there was only one channel. Had us on the edge of our seats and survived till 1976 into colour.
