She's a cheeky one...something on the lines of "those waking up in the UK, I'm not sure you were expecting a bit of Wood in the morning'.....

Hang in there, 90% chance of rain tomorrow we could salvage a draw, then down to Hobart for English type weather...

With our top 3 batters we have no chance of ever winning a test match in Australia or even Tasmania.

Earlier, when discussing the different size ball used for the men's and women's games, she said something about holding a man's ball in her hand, to much hilarity in the box.

Well played to Bairstow, single-handedly keeping England in with a shout of avoiding a loss. He needs Leach, Broad, and Anderson (ha ha) to stick around for a while if they get any play in on Day 4. If the innings gets wound up quickly and Australia bat again with a 130-140 lead, you just know the Aussie bats are going to come out in T20 mode and try to set a 300+ target as quickly as possible and then throw that English batting line up back into the grinder again.

During the rain delay at the start of the day's place they showed highlights of the Eng/Aus Sydney 5th Test of 2011. This was the one where we won by an innings and 83 runs, scoring 644 in our 1st innings.

I know this was an exceptional England side on top of their game against a beaten Aussie team but, by Christ, the contrast in ability and application between that side and this side is remarkable. To watch Strauss and Cook, then immediately switching to the live action of Hameed and Crawley was truly depressing. And how bad must Burns be to get dropped for these binners?

A clear indication of the difference between the teams.
Australia forced to make a change due to covid or injury.
Bowler gets 6 wickets for 7 runs.
Batter scores a century in each innings.

We celebrate highest opening stand of the series 30!!

You could give Steve Waugh and Ricky Ponting a bat against our lot and they’d get centuries!!

I remember that Don Bradman quote when he was in old age and the interviewer said ‘do you still think you’d average what you did in today’s game?’, Bradman replied ‘probably not that high, but I am 80’.

A 32 year old and 35 year old too. There simply isn’t that kind of talent in the county game.

This pitch looks pretty benign, I can certainly see us surviving this

And the first wicket falls. I can see this being over well before tea, no matter how benign the pitch.
