Kristin Hersh.

New album out just last month from her ‘heavier’ project, 50 Foot Wave.

Superb body of work down the years.

Are they still doing cock rock, which chronologically followed on from poodle -- or, if you prefer, hair -- rock?

I think you’ve confused cock rock with socks-on-cocks.

Chili Peppers we’re never part of the hairspray scene. In fact, their funk rock along with the grunge movement was partly responsible for circumcising cock rock with a number of these bands losing their record contracts and mainstream popularity:

Yes, those bands are what I'm calling hair or poodle rock. I'm not with you on the RHCP's impact, however. Grunge and lo-fi would have done it, but I'd circumscribe (rather than circumcise) the RHCP and its culture from that genre and its culture.
We'll just have to disagree on this though.

West is BEST
Off the top of my head;

Pearl Jam
Tangerine Dream
David Byrne
Wardruna
Flaming Lips
Giant Sand

There’s countless examples. Twenty years isn’t that long ago.

To throw some different names into the mix.

Slipknot - Been around for over two decades and still making some top music and as good live as they've ever been.

Killswitch Engage - One of the biggest early names in metalcore still going strong and making some great songs still.

Gojira - Despite changing their sound they're still absolutely incredible and are arguably the best live band around.
