Jeff Wayne - War of the Worlds - beat that!! 2.5 million sales in the UK alone. Next best effort was the Big Match theme tune (which still sounded like WotW)

Anyone who is any good, it's usually the second album that's better - all the imperfections from the first one ironed out; thereafter, descending into crap (usually).

If they're just crap, they might be lucky enough to get one half decent album out first.

Love it, I still play the vinyl. But the often forgotten Flesh and Blood (1980) is also a truly great album with some beautiful tracks.

I like a lot of other Roxy Music, but I think their first album was the best debut album ever by anybody anywhere. I was about 18 when it came out, so at a fairly impressionable age, but it was just so different to anything that had gone before in the mainstream.

Sacrilege perhaps, but I've never been bowled over by this album. You're right though, they never did anything better.
