Quietly confident this will prove a tidy signing. We don't need him to score goals as much as simply be able to hold the ball up and let our munchkins play off him. But if he does score goals, all the better.
Hmmm not that type of player. Was an amazing poacher a few years ago, but didn't do much more than that.

Better than nothing and certainly better than the current dross.

Obviously it will depend which Darren Bent turns up but if his head is right he will rip this division up. The old Bent is exactly the player will need. Can hold the ball up, get on the end of chances in the box and is a threat in behind. He is used to playing up front on his own and scored 20 goals in 45 the last time he played at this level. It's a risk of course it is, but if he still wants it I can't think of anyone better for us that we could possibly have got...

I'm going to throw all of my eggs into this basket and say "game on". Positive news, a brilliant addition and someone that Baldock might play off/with very well. Really, encouraged by this no end.

We need a big man up front in the squad. Doubt he'll be a 90min player but pleased to have a recognised forward and maybe, like Bridge, he'll find his mojo and the joy of playing again.

If I'm right, what NSC believes will only be a good signing is:

Young (20-25)
Proven at this level.
Proven at Premier level
Injury free.
Can score inside the box
Can score outside the box
Cheap

Good luck with that then.

If this happens (big if) then after 5 or 6 games with him in, we should have a much better idea of who’s right in the “our strikers aren’t good enough v SH tactics are the problem argument”

Clearly Bent would be a quality addition.

If you add together all of the transfer fees we have paid in the entire history of the club it doesn't come to as much as Villa paid for Bent 4 years ago.

That is mad!!!! ???

Very poor at holding the ball up even in his prime.....

People said the same about Wayne Bridge with his City form.
But its surprising when you are going to be a free agent at the end of the season, how you step up to the plate to put yourself in the shop window, as Bridge did and got his contract at Reading

You forgot

Be fair!
Available doesn't count........if we don't sign one it's the fault of the 2 B's!!
